The other day I got a flat as I was driving my durango to an appointment. Unfortunately for me they were brand new tires. Oh the horror! Luckily as this happened I was just in front of the Post Office so I was able to pull into that parking lot. I shudder to think what would have happened were I on a highway instead of a side road. Anyway as I was sitting there waiting for my brother-in-law to come help me out since my appointment was with him I was surprised by what I noticed.
I wound up sitting there for about 35 minutes or so with a very flat tire which was extremely noticeable because the whole truck was tilted down to the right due to the flat. The durango sits up pretty high because it is a 4 wheel drive vehicle. It was also quite cold so I kept my gloves on and my coat zipped all the way as I sat there. People came and went every few seconds as I sat there and I saw probably at least 50 or so people look at my wheel, look at me, look back at my wheel and then proceed into the Post Office. Then they came out, got in their vehicle and went on their way. Now initially I didn't think anything of it because I knew I had help coming.
All of a sudden I see a pickup truck pull off and into the Post Office parking lot and next to me. The young gentleman inside mouths to me "Can I change that for you?" I say back "No thank you, I have help coming." The next thing I know he backs up and is leaving. I thought he had pulled in to go to the Post Office but he had pulled in because he saw me from the road passing by. I yelled "Wait!" because I wanted to get his name and thank him because it was then that it started to dawn on me about all the people that had seen me sitting there and not one person had offered help of any kind and this person saw me from out on the road and took his time to pull in and offer help. I think he heard me yell wait but I will never know because he kept going. So to the teen (?) that was driving that truck thank you for being so kind. And to his mother you raised an amazing guy; you should be very proud!
