Running with the BIG DOG....captured on an iPhone

Beautiful sunny day in Alameda...and critters are out to play.

Our tenant's newly rescued dog, a fuzzy little thing named Aidan, always comes up the back steps, whining, looking for own adopted German Shepherd named Harmony to go out and play with him.

Harmony weighs around 90 lbs, and I'd be surprised is Aidan is even close to 20 lbs. But these two get along very well. Aidan, younger, quicker and more spry, likes to have Harmony chase him. They go round and round. And it's so much fun to watch. Doing that a few times in the back yard, they get (or at least Harmony) winded.

So they sort of crash together and chill for a while. One time that they did, I whipped out my iPhone and took this picture.

Not bad for an iPhone!

I just shared this and other photos with Aidan's parents and they are so happy and delighted that little Aidan is safe in Harmony's presence. And you're right...Aidan is a ball of energy. 8-year old Harmony can only try to keep up.

The iPhone can do ANYTHING - - - well, almost anything!  :-)  Nice photo, Pacita - it looks like Harmony has a ball that they were playing with.

We had a great German Shepherd named Casey, but we had to put him down a while back.  We've since added two little Maltese to our family - Bella is six pounds (the big one) and Sophie is only four pounds.  When we move to the country in a couple of months, we'd sure like to get another Shepherd (or two) - I hope they all get along as well as Harmony and Aidan.

Fernando --- the iPhone will do in a pinch. Just wish it had video capability, too. But I will need my regular camera for that.

Dorie --- it's one of those heartwarming things that we appreciate in our daily lives, seeing how animals get along. Next, I'll show a rabid Republicans and Democrats together. Keep your iPhone handy when you see that.

Mike --- growing up, we always had German Shepherds. But Harmony truly is special. She's very kind and warm and cuddly towards kids and other dogs, too.

Randi --- that's right. Adrian runs rings around Harmony who acts like she's a puppy again.

Pacita, that is so cute. It always surprises me to see big dogs and little dogs get along. I know that they do but usually little dogs get the "little dog syndrome" of thinking that they can "take on" big dogs and they keep at it. The dogs look so cute and I bet they love each others company as they are friends but don't have to spend all of their time together (like my 10 year old has to spend with the 2 your old that JUST grew out of the puppy phase). Mine like each other (the younger one LOVES the older one) but the younger one constantly tugs at the older one's cheeks and ears and I feel bad for her!

Libby --- typical behavior. The younger ones follow the older ones like "puppy dogs" which is probably where we got that expression. The more patient and caring dogs will handle it fine, but the curmudgeons will bare their teeth. Like people :)

Pacita - What a great pix!  As a dog mommy myself, I love taking candid pix of my babies.  Our big boy Dawson is a 90lb Goldie and our little girl Sadie is a 20lb Corgi and she absolutely wears him out but they're good buddies who sleep together almost every night.

Andrea...it's night time, and they're playing.  Or rather, Aidan is whining for Harmony to play, but I think Harmony has had enough.

Donne --- I have so many dog pictures that I have a folder I designated as "Dog Town". One of my favorites is this picture of one of the dogs we fostered two years ago. His hair had fallen out, he was scraggly and had yellowed teeth when we got him. But he was a real sweetheart and I cried when we had to take him to his new adoptive family.
