A recent news article indicates that about twenty million Chinese live in caves, which, if you think about it, might not be all that bad. After all, they probably don't have a mortgage, so they are not under water, trying to accomplish a short sale, or in the throes of foreclosure. Interestingly, the article states that many of the caves have been in the same family for many generations and even have plumbing, electrical wiring, and cable television. In some areas, there are even communities of connected caves. Apparently the soil insulates the caves so that the interior temperature never drops below about 55°F even in winter. We might have it a little better here in San Diego....
