The Making of a Sedona TV Commercial
My First Experience.... Bloopers and All!
I was very leary about doing this. Something like this is not in my comfort zone. But as we know, you can't grow if you stay in your comfort zone. Randy Rieger who has been a client of mine is the salesperson for Sedona.TV channel 16. He wanted to meet with me to discuss making a commercial for my business. So we met. I talked with my husband and he was all for it, so here we are! The project is complete and I will be sharing the current commercial with you late tonight... I was quite happy with the finished product. It has been out on TV since Monday!
The Prep Work
- Decide how long your commercial will be - (Mine was planned at 30 seconds)
- Create a story board - (I used my website to get ideas)
- Pick a location to shoot - (Our community pool has fantastic views)

Use professionals with top quality equipment and skills - (it's a tv commercial!)
- The sound quality is key. Lapel mikes work best but a boom mike can also work.
- Keep the lapel mike away from clothing. It can sometimes rub on the clothing and muffle the sound.
- Stay away from the wind. It ruins sound quality
- If possible, monitor the sound to make sure volume levels are OK
- Make sure you use an experienced post production person.
- Most important ...HAVE FUN!
