December Challenge 2018: What Inspires You? Inspired by Carol Williams
The Joy of Life ...
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to a new and different sun.
If you follow my posts, you know that seeing the sun rise every morning at the back of my home completely energizes me. I am completely inspired by the rising sun. I can not recall a day at home where I have missed the sun rise. The entire living space in my home is made of all glass. The rear of the home faces due east and the front of the homes faces due west.
The Rising Sun
As soon as the sun starts to rise, it first shows it's warm rays of light on Coffeepot Rock, I can see the reverse sunrise in the west as the shadows disappear off Coffeepot Rock. All I have to do is turn my head to see the actual rising sun and capture that moment in time. It makes me feel alive! Every day, I take a moment to reflect on my blessings and that is my inspiration to tackle the rest of the day.
300 Plus Days of Sunshine
My husband and myself have always loved the desert. Living close to the beach in SoCal, we had a lot of overcast days. When we went to the desert, whether it was Palm Springs or Lake Havasu we felt different. We realized we are "sun people".
Prism of Light
Within the last two years, my husband found a prism from one of his old telescopes and decided to place it on the ledge to capture the rising sun. Because both of us watch the sun rise everyday, we watch the sun change position from north to south or south to north as the year moves on. This prism would help trace that route. Each day, a slight change is visible. Once the sun rises above the roof line, the prism effect disappears.
Another Blessing
We fell in love with this home over 15 years ago after looking for homes for 3 years. I thought our REALTOR® was going to give up on us. But that is another story. Little did I realize this wonderful experience we would get everyday. The sun actually knocks on our door and let's us know, "I am here"!
