Salt Traders Coastal Cooking is a sister restaurant to Jack Allen's Kitchen, a very popular restaurant in Austin and Round Rock, so you know it has to be more than good! Travels to the coast have inspired the food, the interior and the drinks of the restaurant. The menu has been shaped by the unforgettable meals eaten by the sea from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast and to the Bahamas. The restaurant is centered around seafood coastal cooking, but rest assured if you're in the mood for a burger, you'll find a tasty one here.
A sampling of their menu.....start off with some Bar Snacks - Fried Oysters that are cornmeal dusted and served with a remoulade sauce...or Ceviche Tostada with an avocado mousse and cured fish. Also great starters are the Fried Oyster Lettuce Wraps- cornmeal crusted oyster, butter lettuce, tartar sauce and fennel slaw...or...the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp with preserved lemon, fresh herbs, soppin' bread sauce and tartar sauce. On the Plates menu there's Wood Fired Salmon with broccolini, kale pesto and smoked red pepper coulis...Linguine & Clams - sauteed clams, bacon, pecorino and grilled bread...and...Seared Scallops with whipped cauliflower, grilled asparagus, brown butter and preserved lemon. If you're in the mood for that burger - try the Jack Stack Burger with slab bacon, harissa mayo, romaine, heirloom tomato, yellow american, bread & butter pickles and salt fries.
