I haven’t been actively working in the real estate business for almost 15 years, so my contribution and task of giving back is marketing related. An agent who has her own team with one other real estate agent needed to have a very serious surgery. This was a neurological surgery on her neck.
That woman was so stressed about her business going downhill because her period for healing and rehabilitation was months. Of course, she has a partner who does not market. His online ability was limited to MLS. That was enough. He was a good closer and could work both buyers and sellers.
I couldn’t imagine being out of commission and out of sight for months. Out of sight; Out of mind. I couldn’t let that happen to her. We were in the same business but competitors.
I committed to marketing for them, until she was capable of taking over. I marketed for months. I had her website login info and worked it every day. I don’t work MINE every day!!!
She had good visibility on the first page of Google searches for many keyword phrases. Well, to this day, she has many titles that continue to be on the first page and has better placement above the fold than I do!!! I think it’s called shooting yourself in the foot, and it makes me smile whenever I think about it.
I would not have wanted it any other way. She blended in again and is soaring with the eagles. We’ll always be best of friends, and that’s what friends do for friends. Business and money are secondary.
All of this occurred several years ago. It’s was my way of GIVING BACK to someone who had decades of experience under her belt and was facing a serious medical situation that could have damaged her business for many years. My stepping in allowed her to focus on her recovery and not worry about marketing.
