The Camas Castle - A good spot to let down your hair.

Let down your hair. In Camas, WA you can spot a scene right out of Disney’s updated Rapunzel story, “Tangled.”  Not far from the intersection of 283rd Avenue and Norse Road is a castle structure complete with a moat and drawbridge.

The concrete structure was built in 1985 by its current owner Gerald Bjorkland. According to the Clark County GIS data, it sits on a little over 5 acres.  It says the building is approximately 1000 square feet and is described as a conventional 2 story structure. (hahahaha)

However, the castle has a three-story, 40-foot tower at its east end - a perfect place to let down your hair.  According to an old MLS real estate listing, there are tiled floors and carpet, and an elevator ( and staircase) leading to the 3rd story master suite.

A little Real Estate history about The Camas Castle.

The Castle in CamasThe 2006 listing also says the 3-level castle has 3 bedrooms, 2.2 baths and is nearly 2600 square feet. At that time, the listing also mentions additional living quarters outside of the stucco compound. The price - $500,000.

After 367 days of marketing, the listing expired. During the history of the listing, there were no accepted offers noted by the Realtor. Apparently a tower where you can let down your hair isn’t as desirable as one might think.

Should you be compelled to take a peek, be advised, there are now no- trespassing signs posted at the driveway.  However, you can get a good view of the property from Norse Road and this overhead view from Google maps.

Debb,

How lovely that Camas has its very own castle..Now all you need is a knight with shining armor and a fair maiden named Rapunzel to buy it, and I am letting them know that they should deal only with the Queen of Real Estate in Camas, my friend Debb...Happy Thursday, A

That is so cool even building a tower. Then again, I do wonder how hard it is to sell, being unique?

Well, a castle in your own back yard, Debb, geez who could RESIST?? I would just enjoy being the listing agent who could be at a cocktail party and casually say, "Oh, did I mention that I'm listing a CASTLE??"

Even if it didn't sell, your daughter(s) would be thrilled just to tell their friends!

Debb, this a localism post with flair.  Wish we could see the inside, but 'no trespassing'  means keep away . . . except from a distance like the other road or air.  Years ago the Realtor magazine used to run feature articles on unusual properties.  This castle would qualify.  I remeber a train caboose and former jail.  Hmmm.

How exciting is this?! My grandfather built this house for his dear good ol' friend, Gerry. It's great to see so many positive comments about the castle :)
