An Alpine Ski Resort

 

Arizona Snowbowl sits at 9,200 feet above sea level.  The average annual snowfall is over 21 feet. Snowbowl is an alpine ski resort and is located in the beautiful San Francisco Peaks. It is seven miles north of Flagstaff. 

 

Flagstaff - One of the Snowiest Incorporated Cities in the USA

The elevation of Flagstaff is around 7,000 feet, and the annual snowfall in Flagstaff is about 8 feet. This makes Flagstaff one of the snowiest incorporated cities in the USA. Sedona's elevation averages 4,500 feet. 

 

Find Snippets of Color Throughout the Flagstaff Vicinity

 

The city of Flagstaff and the surrounding area will provide snippets of color during the next 3 weeks. You will see red, deep orange and yellow leaves on many of the trees. It is a beautiful contrast moving into winter. 

 

Snowbowl Peak Color Viewing

 

Right now until the first snow in November, this is considered Flagstaff's dry season and this week is the peak week for viewing the color change of the Aspens.  There are areas all the way up to the Snowbowl parking lot that offer groves of aspens to view.  Besides Lockett Meadow, Aspen Corner is the other main area to see different groves nearby.

SOOOO beautiful!

Here along the Beautiful Colorado River, it looks exactly the same in 80 temps as a month and a half ago in 105 temps! I have never lived where the seasons 'truly changed' so I love the visuals! HAVING SAID THAT . . . I just had to turn off the evap and put on slippers as the inside temps hit 65!

The groves are enormous here, and they go through elevation changes so you can see the change as you drive higher.

Don't feel bad. I came from SoCal, in fact, we ended up in AZ because we were River Rats. Before becoming an agent, we would go to Maui in February to get out of the "cold" weather.  I just put the heater on in the AM and my husband thought I was crazy. LOL!
