Ocean Fish and Chips is our favorite Elk Grove place to go for fish and chips. There are not that many places in Elk Grove that serve fish and chips, but this restaurant stacks up well against restaurants even outside the area, including a Las Vegas restaurant that I recently visited, Gordon Ramsay's Pub and Grill.
I tried their fish and chips with mushy peas. The mushy peas were extremely good, but the very mushy fish was not. Gordon Ramsay must be very proud of the dish served at $30.99. Quite frankly, everyone seems pretty proud in Las Vegas. Everything is expensive! If you are ever in Las Vegas, it is worth going by to see Ramsay's restaurant. The decor is pretty cool utilizing over 50 beer kegs as decorations and they do have a great selection of beer.

Back to Elk Grove! The fish comes in large, juicy pieces and the batter is light and crispy. It really is just about perfectly done. My wife enjoys the two piece fish plate. I love the combo plate featuring three prawns, a couple of oysters and a large piece of fish. It is delicious. The chips are not as good as Ramsay's mushy peas, but I can live with crunchy chips. The side of coleslaw is very tasty. We also enjoy the fried calamari and the vegetable platter. The ambiance is dated, but I expect that at good fish and chips places. At $9.97 for this beautiful plate of food, I can do without the beer keg decor. "Happy, happy, joy, joy" as Ren and Stempy would sing out loudly. Dang, now I am hungry!
If you are looking for a restaurant with a larger selection, the fish and chips serving at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is good and BJ's has a large selection of tasty beers too.
