Project 1: Travertine is a limestone that's as hard as marble. Travertine showers were a big design trend 10 years ago and are very common in the Chicago land area. This Burr Ridge shower cleaning objective was to restore the look of the grout and replace moldy caulking.  The first task consisted of vapor steam cleaning the grout joint and floor tiles. The travertine shower wall tiles were cleaned using a  2 step system to hone the walls. After we completed the shower walls & steam cleaning of the floor grout, we then used a special silicone to caulk & secure the shower seams.

Project 2: The fireplace was soiled with smoke and soot. The surface had a yellowish hue and just looked unhealthy. This fireplace cleaning project required the use of a brush honing method, to cut and remove the dirt from the limestone without over use of water.  Honing a white limestone fireplace should be done as dry as possible. When water interacts with smoke soot, ash, and so forth, from our experience it stains the white limestone.  Cutting or sanding technology works best because it cuts, removes, and resurfaces the stone.  No bleeding or staining resulting form over watering.
