    . . . . . Go DWGS!

I have been licensed since 1989 and have actively sold real estate in the Charlotte and Lake Norman areas for about two and a half years. My husband and I have been real estate investors, in the Charlotte market, for over seventeen years. I like helping people realize their dreams of purchasing a home whether it be first-time home-buyers, relocation, downsizing, upgrading, or senior living.

I also like the marketing aspect of assisting homeowners in finding a buyer for their home. I believe in giving professional, honest, creative, and personalized service to buyers and sellers. I also believe in keeping everyone up-to-date to ensure a less stressful and smooth transaction. I am a full-time agent and I am committed to assisting my clients/customers real estate dreams.

I am a member of: the Charlotte Regional Realtors Association, Carolina Multiple Listing Service, National Association of Realtors, and North Carolina Association of Realtors.

I love living here, can't possibly think of any other area that has so much to offer with such a good location ~ close to mountains and the beach. If you are thinking of moving to our area, please allow me to show you the area I call HOME!

I am married to Eric Harris and we have a son Spencer, 15; and two Westies Coco and Scooter. Lake Norman (the Denver side) has been our home for the last twenty-seven years.

Prior to getting back into real estate I was a business owner here in Denver, North Carolina. During that time while working with various vendors it was almost daily that I would hear, "There's a Denver, NC? I didn't know that." I would even hear this from other people throughout our state.

The easiest way to remember Denver's location is that it is approximately 20-25 miles northwest of Charlotte; the queen city of North Carolina. Denver is also one of the towns that share the area called Lake Norman; Lake Norman is on the Catawba River and it is the largest lake in North Carolina. Denver is located in Lincoln County which is sandwich between Gaston and Catawba Counties with Mecklenburg County to the east. For those that are interested in geography Denver is at latitude 35°31'52" north and longitude 81°01'47" west. FIPS place code is 17000. The elevation is 902 feet above sea level.

The Past:

The Denver area was settled in 1770 and was formerly known as "Dry Pond," derived its name from a small pond which once stood at what is now the corner of Highway 16 and Campground Road, which is the site of the local Bank of America branch. During the summer the pond would dry up due to the heat. In 1873, D. Matt Thompson, headmaster of the local Rock Springs Academy (now known as Rock Springs Elementary School), led the effort to have Dry Pond renamed for rapidly growing Colorado capital in an attempt to attract a railroad, because rail service held the promise of opportunity, prosperity, and wealth. Efforts to get the railroad failed but in 1877, the town of Denver was officially incorporated in the state of North Carolina.

The Present:

The continuous growth of Charlotte has fueled tremendous development of the areas surrounding Lake Norman including the Denver area. The area has become a very popular recreation spot, attracting thousands of visitors every year for fishing, swimming, and boating. The Denver area has seen tremendous growth in the past 10 to 15 years. People see the charm of the other side of the lake in particular, Denver. New homes and businesses are suddenly popping up throughout the area.

In recent years we have seen a lot of people relocating here from California, New York, and Ohio. We are also seeing more retired people deciding to relocate here too; sighting that we have a change of seasons. We are reaping the benefits of these transplants because they are the ones that are bring their businesses with them and/or opening up new ones, due to them longing for what they miss.

Along with this we are so blessed to have a great school system. The Denver schools rank some of the highest test scores in the county. It's nothing for principles to receive daily calls from teachers wanting to get into the system.

What about real estate? Well the area offers a wide variety. The average is around $200,000. the range is $100,000's to several millions.

The Future:

Our area has been pretty resilient when considering many other places over the United States. When most markets were bottoming out we continued our growth was continuous. For the past year we have seen some changes, what we call market adjustments. Yes, we are currently in a "buyer's market" but from what I have been told don't bank on this to continue. Essentially, we were the last to experience the downturn but we are expected to be one of the first to recover. There's no better time to invest in real estate....
