Selling or buying a home isn’t a singular decision, it is a process that includes emotional highs and lows along the way. Selecting the right REALTOR® to assist you is critical, and is the reason AJ takes a consultative approach with each client, taking the time to ask questions about their goals/needs/wants. This strategic approach takes the resulting mosaic of individual answers and compiles them together to better map out a successful purchase or sale of your home, with the most efficient use of your time and energy. Whether you are a cautious first home buyer, are exploring a short sale, or a seller that is downsizing from your “forever” home; his enthusiasm, dedication, and supportive style will let you know you have a true partner in achieving your goal.
Quality over Quantity
“Quality over Quantity” perfectly encapsulates AJ’s real estate philosophy. His goal is to exceed the expectations of every client--each client deserves individual attention at every step throughout the process, rather than an automated mass production approach that has become prevalent today. There should be a special bond between client and agent, and as your agent, AJ will fill many roles along the way to a successful settlement. Among these roles are sounding board, moral support, coach and many others. He actively works to cultivate a unique relationship of openness and honesty so you feel completely comfortable and therefore, can achieve the smoothest and least stressful transaction possible.
Now in his second decade as a full time agent in the Northern Virginia market, his area of exclusive focus, he has been around the block (literally & figuratively). Knowing the areas that will fill the specific needs of a buyer or the long term market trends of a seller’s neighborhood are invaluable assets that AJ brings to the table every time. His long term perspective, focused negotiation skills, contract knowledge, and integrity are all brought to bear in every purchase or sale.
AJ lives in Alexandria with his wife Jodee (also a licensed REALTOR®), son, and rescue dog Shadow. When not out with clients he can be found on one of the city’s athletic fields with his son, a dog park, or entertaining friends at home. He is also involved in the community through the PTA at Polk Elementary School, as well as delivering meals through the Meals on Wheels program to seniors in Alexandria.
I believe that selecting an agent to assist with your real estate needs is an incredibly important, though often overlooked, step in the real estate process. You should feel comfortable dealing with and spending time with your agent, as the process generally takes longer than just a few years ago. If a personality/style clash impedes communication, both you and your agent will become very frustrated. Be honest with what you want in an agent and expect the same from the agent you select, as they will act in many roles such as a counselor, friend, and sounding board throughout the process. My wife and I concentrate on trying to understand what our clients really want and need before we start viewing homes or planning an open house, as the investment at the beginning of the process will pay off handsomely in the end with a successful, stress-free transaction.

Our expertise is in 2 areas:
1) listing homes in the Alexandria City, Arlington, and close-in Fairfax County area. We are particularly good with vacant properties as we do light staging on them from our inventory of furniture and household goods. A vacant home never shows as well as one that has been tastefully staged to make the home feel larger and accentuate it's best features.
2) working with buyers that really want to get an understanding of the pros & cons of all the neighborhoods that fit into their basic criteria. From commuting info, mass transit, and other quality of life considerations, we strive to provide the most complete picture so that buyers can make an educated decision. From there, it is a cooperative process to identify what items are truly "Must Haves" and what would benice to have in a home. Finally, it is time to identify the home you want to have for the next phase of your life, then craft the best possible offer (price isn't everything), and work through all the contingencies until the day you get the keys to your new home at settlement.

|AJ took the time to truly assess our needs and came up with a winning strategy to sell. Our house had been on the market for a long time with other agents, and we had begun to lose hope that we could get this place sold in the tough market our area was experiencing. His marketing brought in a buyer, he guided us through the entire contract process to settlement; doing a great job of keeping us informed all along the way. I wholeheartedly recommend him to represent anyone who is a serious buyer or seller. I would hire them again without reservation... it's great to know a true professional in the real estate business.|

|AJ Heidmann did an exemplary job selling our condo in Alexandria. He came to us with an excellent marketing plan for the property which he executed brilliantly. AJ was completely knowledgeable about the comparable sold properties, competition, market conditions, and potential pitfalls (for which he had a game plan). On numerous occasions, he went well above and beyond what you would expect from your realtor. When any impediments turned up, he took proactive action and kept them from becoming issues. He has good relationships with the people you need to get the paperwork in order, like management companies. He did everything he could to make the process a positive experience. AJ got the deal done quickly, smoothly, and successfully. We recommend him most heartily and would use his services again!|
