I have lived in King County since 1968, I wasn't born here but please don't try to guess my age when I moved here, lets just say I'm old enough.....My parents still live in the same house they bought in 1968 for $21,000. We know its worth a little more today!
Having lived in South King County since 1981 gives my buyer clients the assurance that I have a general idea about a lot of communities, where the businesses are, what the traffic flows are like, how long it takes to get from A to B. The same goes for my seller clients. Who is most likely to buy this house, would a family of 6 with horses be interested in a house in Beacon Hill or Enumclaw ? You get my point.
Back in my early adult years I worked for the Port of Seattle. This was in an era where the phrase "eaqual pay for equal work" resounded across the nation. I happened to be one of the first women to hold a job on an active container terminal that traditionallly went to men. No I wasn't a Longshoreman, this was before the ILWU let women in. My job was to coordinate the containers from ship to final destination. I learned how to talk with Longshoremen, Teamsters, Port Captains from foreign countries and US Customs Inspectors. Yes, they were all men. They all tested me on my ability to hold that job. In the end I won their respect.
After I left the Port of Seattle I raised a child and cared for Thoroughbred horses. The horses were easier than the child. What that 15 years taught me was patience with a firm hand. Now that I'm a grandmother I use all my past experiences finding solutions to disagreements, nurturing and negotiating for my clients.
