I'm not sure anybody dreams of being a Realtor when they grow up...I had my heart set on forensic pathology.  But, that's not a very family-friendly occupation.  At the same time I was pondering what I wanted to do when "I grew up", my husband and I were discussing buying our first home and Realtors scared me.  As the old adage goes, "one bad apple spoils the bunch".  I had heard so many horror stories and I was afraid of being swindled by a less than honest agent or being tricked into signing something I really didn't understand.  So naturally, I turned to real estate.  It was something I could be licensed for in a short amount of time and be afforded the opportunity to run my business...my way...

I was on a mission to be as informed as possible about the home buying process and that mission has turned into a career.  That's what sets me apart from many agents.  I didn't initially get involved in real estate in hopes of making a quick, easy buck.  I got involved because my paranoia drove me to learn all I could about the business.  And it wasn't a fleeting moment...I still spend countless hours reading, searching the web, talking to lenders, and watching pertinent tv shows to make sure I stay informed and up-to-date on market conditions.

So the student has now become the teacher.  It's not my job to stay informed and pass that knowledge along to buyers and sellers...it's my career.  I would be doing both my career and my prospective clients a great disservice by falling behind on current trends and technology.
