New Orleans real estate market is growing and our short-sale, foreclosures have been considerably lower than other states.  For that we are most grateful!  That is due, in part, to the post-Katrina demand for housing resulting from the thousands of homes that were flooded in those levee breaks.. (all of which have been properly repaired).  Prices here are stable & we continue to have a lessening supply of flooded/gutted homes as well as those completely rebuilt.  Since many of the homes were demolished, the Lakeview area now has vacant land for sale...something we did not have at all pre-Katrina.  Building is robust & sales are inching upward.  Katrina has expanded my knowledge base exponentially!  Am now proficient in listing & selling flooded homes as well as homes that flooded, but have been rebuilt.  Mortgage money is readily available here and New Orleans is moving forward.
