ABR, Accredited Buyer's Representative
The ABR designation is conferred by REBAC on realtors who have maitained their membership in NAR and our local Real Estate Association, have undergone extensive training in how to best repreent buyers in our marketplace in order to provide, effective, ethical help in buying your best home, at the best price and with the least amount of stress!
CDPE, Certified Distressed Property Expert
This is the premier designation for agents who work in the distressed property market. What's the distressed property marketplace? That's "realtor speak" for properties that may be facing foreclosure or short sale or that have already been foreclosed on. There are various estimated when this inventory of distressed properties will be cleared from inventory, but the consensus is that it may be several years. There properties can offer good value for buyers and are found in various conditions from homes that move in ready to properties that will require a contractor to make them liveable.
SFR, Shorts Sale and Foreclosure Resource
This is a second designation to assist homeowners in making knowledge based decisions about whether to try to hold on to their homes, allow the home to go into foreclosure or to short sell the property. Short sell means that the lender (very often banks) will allow the homeowner to sell their home to an unrelated third party for less than the homeowner's current mortgage is.
GRI, Graduate Realtor Institute
This is a training composed of 12 modules - I have currently completed 10 modules and expect to have this designation completed in December of 2012. This is the equivalent of grad school for Real Estate Consultants.
