Portland, Maine. We love houses! Large or small, old or new, we enjoy showing property to buyers. We have years of experience and extensive knowledge of the Maine real estate market, dealing in residential condos, single families and land, to investment multi-units and commercial development. Based in Portland, we routinely do property tours in all the surrounding towns north, south and west. From Saco to Brunswick, from Buxton to Raymond and all in-between, we are especially active this season in Portland, South Portland, Saco and Old Orchard Beach. Wherever the business is, that is where we will be.
Thinking of selling? We look forward to speaking to you about listing your property. The current market is brisk and prices are creeping up again. It may be time to consider putting your property up for sale.

Richard and Jean Murphy, aka The Murphy Team, turned out to be the best “thing” that could have happened to us at the start of our intense, stressful, exhausting, protracted roller-coaster search for a new home somewhere near Portland, ME. It took us four months to close on that elusive “perfect house” in Cape Elizabeth, which we had quickly identified as our location of choice after a 3 day 23-house marathon tour arranged by the Murphys long-distance to introduce us to greater Portland and to calibrate our needs and preferences. The fact that there were not many houses on the market in Cape Elizabeth that fit our specifications and budget made the search that much more difficult. Richard and Jean – who are warm, patient, knowledgeable and responsive – stuck with us through seven visits from New York, some of them on practically a day’s notice; four offers; a cryptic mold infestation; and more false starts and second-thoughts than I care to admit. Seemingly tireless, yet easy-going, these two unflagging workaholics previewed houses for us, always seemed to find a way to squeeze in visits at unlikely hours and on short notice, and provided us with information and contacts for everything from zoning restrictions to contractors; the merits and demerits of various kinds of siding; local insurance people; mortgage services, banks and bakeries. It is an essential part of their job to get to know their clients, and they do that part of their job as well as they do everything else. Nevertheless, now that we have completed our journey we consider them real friends, and look forward to claiming some of their seemingly limitless yet impossibly crowded time to socialize when we become full-time present-day Elizabethans. In no small part due to our overwhelmingly positive experience, my son and his family are now thinking of relocating to Maine. You can be sure that we hooked them up with the Murphys.

As first-time homebuyers, we felt so well taken care of by the Murphy Team. We fell in love with a house right away, and Richard and Jean empowered us to move forward with securing it, even as they quickly rallied up another dozen showings to help us get the perspective we needed before committing to a property. They consistently reminded us that we could take as long as it needed to find the right place while simultaneously hustling to get our first offer in. Jean and Richard were very communicative, answered our many, many questions, and guided us through everything from the bidding process, to the home inspection, to the closing. In addition, it was just fun to spend time with them - they were level-headed when we were not, and had a great sense of humor throughout the process. We really couldn't be happier with the experience and would heartily recommend the Murphy Team to anyone looking for friendly, expert homebuyers.

Richard and Jean Murphy In the real estate market, price is driven by 3 key criteria - location, location, location. When it comes to working with a realtor to purchase a home - 3 criteria come to mind that drive a successful working relationship and outcome - trust, trust, trust. As an outsider trying to navigate buying in the Portland Maine Real Estate Market - I was blessed to have stumbled upon Richard and Jean Murphy through my online social media analysis. When I look back at what key factors differentiated my realtor experience from the usual list of criteria - 2 things come to mind - 1. Trust - which can only result in going through the real estate experience over a period of time working together. 2. The second differentiator that wasn't initially something I thought about but was invaluable to me was the continual input/feedback/perspective of a husband/wife team that distilled the information and personalized it for me - the buyer. I found it extremely beneficial to get both experienced realtors to give me their view on many of my questions. I find the network of resources provided by the Murphys has helped me create my own network as I continue to adjust and make Portland my new home. Thank you Murphy Team for guiding me through my Portland real estate experience in a trusting and timely manner. I consider them now one of my new valued friends in Portland. We have worked with real estate agents in the past and not had great experiences. One was horrible and the other was lackluster. Working with the Murphy Team has changed our opinion of what a real estate agent can do for us. They were truly an asset in purchasing this home and made it a much more pleasant experience. They're very responsive and we knew they were 100% on our side and looking out for our best interest. Candace Massey

"Richard and Jean were very patient in showing us the range of investment properties we could afford and very helpful in letting us know what the income range might be. They struck a nice balance as we ourselves worked through the emotional difference between buying a home and buying an income property. We were selling another property through another broker at the same time and they were also very helpful in supporting us as we worked through what seemed like a never-ending line of roadblocks. I would recommend them for both new and experienced buyers. " Carol Morris
