Praful nailed this one!
I have a post-it above my computer that reminds me "a plan is just a series of checklists". I also like the reminder that a plan done once a year is really nothing more a new years resolution....and I generally don't do too well with those.
I believe in writing down goals, and having a plan, but also that adjustments are necessary. I bristle when plans get in the way of real progress. Have encountered that in a few cases with those managing the business and it just seems silly to me when being overly regimented gets in the way of a real conversation. Just my opinion....
I really like doing a business plan every year as it will keep me motivated. My plan so far is on track. I am hoping to match or exceed my business plan for 2015.
Rich Levin - well, it has helped me so far this year...........
Been in the business for almost 20 years, and only one year WROTE my goals down, failed miserably, and only have them in my head now. Goals are already made, and business this year is FABULOUS.
At the end of the first quarter I made changes. Always trying to improve it.
My plans are going terribly. However, that's because I'm busier than I anticipated, which is nice. I'm managing, but need to get back to much of what I wanted to focus on. I do a quarterly plan, thankfully, so setbacks are very temporary and changes very easy to make.
