Yes, to prevent any indiction of collusion and eliminate the potential for liability should something crop-up after the fact that should have been caught. Bottom line, as John McCormack says, "It is up to the buyer".

We have a list of maybe 10 home inspectors on a sheet of paper . I just give them the list.

No. It is good to have three or more to suggest but I prefer recommending specific favorites that may best fit the circumstances.

Yes, for commercial building inspections, yes for architects, yes for space planners, etc.  However, the community of buyers at large knew who they liked and many of our clients used the same inspector, it was their choice not ours.  It kepts us from being tainted in any way...A

Like Nina Hollander no steering and when working in a team we were only supposed to use one inspector, bank and attorney; it caused a lot of friction.

No in the buyer consult I give then a packet and it includes two home inspectors contact info. I also include two lenders plus how to buy a home booklet.

You should get to know 3 and hand out cards for all three. If a lawsuit occurs due to a poor inspection or a missed item, you may hear something like "you TOLD me to use this inspector and now see what happened"!

I always give three. After all, we are instructed to do so.

But will add, #1 spend a lot of time inspection and is a drama queen, #2 Is a large franchise operation and will attach repair estimates that only serve to panic buyer and falsely elevate the authority of the inspector, and #3.

I advice they have the liberty to choose the one they like.

Nope,  I tell them to ask friends and family for a recommendation and if they don't get one from another source, I give them them my two recommendations.. And I only have two..... Cant find a third as good as my two.

we always give out 3 names and they are home inspectors with good reputations.... we want the best so we don't end up with issues later...I'd rather have a dead deal.

Yes, always.  I don't want to push my buyer into any one direction.  I advise them to call all three and choose based on how comfortable they feel with the inspector's tone and prices.

Hi Michael -- I try not to use the word always(or never) --- too easy to get "caught" when I do/don't.   So I'll answer with the word typically I give our three names.   Another term that popped into my head as I was answering your question is "it depends".   Regardless of how many I provide(or none at all) -- it's always a buyers' choice.
