When I had an office full of agents, I never had a problem hiring more.  I had very high standards, was picky, and still fired a bunch.

Then we sold the office, moved north and are now a family team of 3.  I love it that way and am making way more money.

If I had to do it over again, I would have hired more assistants and not more agents.

It depends on what types of agents you want to recruit.  Are you looking for top producing agents, teams of agents, agents who do not plan to be active but want to maintain their licence, agents who maintain their license who don't plan to do very many transactions, agents who can't afford high monthly fees, agents who want 100% commission, technologically sophisticated agents, etc.

Erica Simpson If you are looking for new licensed agents, my State sells a list of people who have recently passed the real estate exam. This might help, if your State does the same.

Mike & Eve Alexander got it right. Having owned my own brokerage, I tired of babysitting. Now we are streamlined and highly efficient with many fewer people.

Thanks everyone for your insight. Currently offering training and coaching. Not looking for demanding top producers. Looking for people who want to grow their business but need accountability and direction

I don't know!

It depends on the business model of the brokerage.  If the model is the separate newbies from their money, simply put out the 'Help wanted' sign and promise train'n.

However, there is a better way. Focus your efforts on those who have removed the training wheels. They will be more that two years into their career. This IS the season of disillusionment.

Every time one of these gets a new listing or closes (evidence they are doing some business) introduce yourself, offer to always be available if they ever need help, and congratulate them for their achievement. Rinse and repeat.

Do not, do not, do not use the 'R' word.

If you are looking for top producing agent who bring with them their one gravitational field regarding business, show them your proposition on how they can make more money and/or keep more of their money. Just be aware, this heavy hitter will start dictating what the broker will and wil not do. Then the rest of the agents LEAVE.

So, that's why "I got train'n" it the #1 recruiting tool.
