Best not to assume more liability than needed.

So many bad ideas start with good intentions, I am sure that they meant well.

Until the energy audit becomes law in the transaction keep the novelties at home, and not someone else's home. After closing you can open that can of worms if you wish.

Chris - No thank you, not interested in getting into home inspection stuff. I don't think this is part of an agent's responsibilities, and I wouldn't want the liability.

I agree with you, Chris. It could make for an interesting toy but an agent has no reason to be doing inspections or making any statements about a home condition based on their unprofessional and unlicensed opinion.

Chris Lima I'll leave this to the home inspector.

I agree, I don't think I would use it just to avoid more liability of my end. I am sure there is a certain skill to reading thermal images properly, I don't want to be the one to get it wrong.

It certainly reduces the cost of thermal cameras to less than 10% of what they normally cost but I wouldn't want the possible liability associated with using it for the purposes they mentioned in the article. I've read enough articles about how agents that acted even a little like home inspectors got themselves into trouble legally. No, thank you. That's what home inspections are for!
