This depends on the geographic location. I have lived in so many diverse parts of the Country; some designs are not compatible with the location. For example, in California, block homes are not normally found because of earthquake potential.

It would look like no other..... I did that already....the majority of homes in my area are colonials with a lump and a bump on them.... I built a 100' cape with a center chimney and very open floor plan.... after I built mine, there were two others in town who built similar homes....

I am living in it. All living but a bonus room is on one floor. There are no steps to access from outside. There are garages from all our vehicles and we use every room becaues it has a purpose. There is also plenty of closet space (11) and two walk-in storage areas plus pull down attic access. I am very content.
