Since it is just going to be the two of us, I will pick up the bouillabaise stock from our fishmonger, and then add seven different kinds of sea food from fish to shellfish.  We are fortunate to have local mussels, spiny  lobster,  shrimp and flounder in seaso now. I will add to it by buying what came in fresh that day.  Serve that with crusty french bread and a good bottle of champagne.

If you have a big crowd, then I would have appetizers like smoked salmon for instance and caviar as two cold ones.  Oysters Rockfeller as a hot appetizer, and I would have the other 4 in a cioppino broth if you want to do it strictly Italian style...A simple dessert of panne cotta would be great or biscottis...A

Susan, I'll bet you could find some great stuff on some Italian sites where this is a totally big deal for Christmas Eve.  Here are a couple I found:

Smoking fish or grilling fish is never wrong. I like to use Italian dressing as a marinate on either.

No.  Have you considered talking to a local fav in your area?  Emo's Eating Emporium.  They publish lots of recipes and several locals eat there regularly.
