I have deleted an entire thread when it has been hijacked by negativity!  But I've reported the member first

yes, it should be an option..... there are very few situations where a comment needs to be deleted....but on occasion, an ugly head surfaces!!!

If the answer hyjacks the dialog, I would delete it

The one posting the question should retain the ability to nuke the entire dialog.

I like Roger D. Mucci 's suggestion of being able to BLOCK people that have nothing positive to add in the Rain.  Maybe if you email Bob and ask him to put it on the list for upcoming improvements.

I don't think that any one should have the ability to delete answers or comments other than the author of the answer or comments.  Though, offensive remarks should be reported and then possibly deleted by staff.

Tony, it's interesting, because I've seen a whole lot more sort of snarky stuff in Q&A answers than in comments on blog posts.

I believe the author should be able to delete inappropriae comments, without deleting the entire thread.  That said, I would hope the author would take seriously the importance of keeping the dialogue open to opposing views, if it is done in a respectful way.

I think it should always be an option.  I love my site where I have to approve comments before they are published.

I don't think it's necessary esp as the person can make members only and report the answer.

I am not sure that changes will make any difference in this points driven section.

Luckily I have nto had any negative comments.  I do think we need the option to do that.
