Just put out a brand new trifold brochure.   It's in businesses, restaurants and marinas all over plus it's a great handout when I bump into someone at the grocery store.   Business cards are too easy to discard but the brochure has helpful information in addition to my contact data.   And if they leave it laying around, it is a draw to the eyes of a passerby that I may have never contacted otherwise.   And yes, I'm getting a great response from it.

Aside from that, I have personalized but simple "Thank you" notes that allow a brief comment that I send out for any excuse I can find.   People need to know they matter to you.   When they do, then YOU will matter to them !

Fred, I have used all of the above at one time or another over the past few years. Magazine and newspaper ads were costly and ineffective and post cards were a waste of time and money.

I occasionally use brochures and flyers but the best results have come from direct mail (not post cards) and business cards. I recently got a call from a direct mail piece that I sent nearly a year ago...the customer held on to it all this time!

And I once had a call from someone I met at a networking function and gave my business card. He carried that card in his wallet for 3 years before deciding to call me!

Print advertising does work in my market and do we a weekly ad in the real estate section of a popular paper. We get a lot of calls from that ad. Postcards also work and I do postcard mailings.

We recommend all of these if they are appropriate to the marketplace.  In Ocean Reef, Key Largo area, all of these were appropriate and worked.  Will they work in Tallahasse?  I have no idea, and I would find out by studying the market.  This kind of marketing works in Aspen, parts of Los Angeles County..  Someone just signed 8 multimillion $$$ listings because of handwritten notes...The other part of this is thinking strategy...A

It does not matter what I use, but I will share later.

What matters is what do the Heavy Hitters in your area use? Model what they are doing.

I use postcards for direct response and EBM purposes.

30% of Open House attendees come from the newspaper ad.

Flyers capture those available in the 90 day market.

Business cards? I have them and distribute them but track no business to their use although they likely serve to remind of the conversation.

Acknowledgment letters keep the referrals coming.
