Bill,

Never wore a badge as a real estate agent.  Have worn badges at conferences and meetings, and wearing something upside down is not a conversation starter.  It makes me think someone woke up with a hangover, or is trying too hard to interact.

My name badge lives somewhere at the bottom of my purse.

I don't wear a name badge, but if I did, I wouldn't wear it upside down.  I think people would think it was a dumb error.  While it may start a conversation, I'm not convinced the other person would start out with an excellent impression of me.

I wear a name badge as required by the bank. I am a "Professional" and conduct myself accordingly so,  NO ; I would never wear it upside down to make the other person initiate a conversation.  If an agent needs to stoop to that level, . . . . . well, I'm sorry.

Perhaps they should attend training classes on interpersonal communications or practice in the mirror or with an experienced agent as a mentor.  I would think their broker would have concerns with the idea ,too

So what happens when this catches on like it did 15 years ago when I first heard of it . . . and everyone's badge is upside down?  ;)
Maybe have the badges made half upside down and half right side up with different colors on each side, like 'clean and dirty' for dishwashers . . .
"Time To Sell"
"Time To Buy"
And rotate them . . . LOL

Whatever works for you is what you should do!

That was a tried and true tactic many decades ago!  I guess everything old is new again

PS  The other gimmick was a badge that said "Do you know Me?"

I don't usually wear my name badge, although I definitely do when I'm meeting new clients, showing houses, or conducting an open house. And I did wear it upside down once, but it was not intentional and I felt like an idiot when my new client pointed it out -- after a while of being together. So I wouldn't wear it upside down on purpose.

I have never worn a badge. I do have my logo on my shirt. It would be hard to wear that upside down. I guess I could do it. It would be kind of drafty at the crotch and I have put belt loops on it somehow.

We nearly always wear our name badges, but we don't wear them upside down. My husband says I can strike up a conversation with anyone at any time about anything II'm not sure it's supposed to be a compliment) and I don't need a gimmick to do that.

I would not consider an upside down approach Bill. Wearing a name badge isn't always necessary where I conduct business although they're generally good for meetings with new associates and large gatherings when the attendees might not know who I am.

I used to wear one all the time, even had different colors too, to match my clothing. And I always made sure to wear one when doing OH, to look more professional.

When I started working for my new broker, I ordered two and after I received them, realized that when wearing a jacket with a lapel, my name wasn't showing!

I went to another company last week to order new ones (silver background and one in gold), with my name printed right-handed instead, still waiting for them.

I read the book long time ago, My Name is Bill... bought some labels myself but only tried it once and no, never upside down, lol.
