I own some stock given me by my grandparents but I don't really "play" the market - I don't know enough to play actually

I prefer Real Estate investments, something I have a good understanding of and can manage.

I don't play the market, I invest and have for decades. Yes I see many tells in market behavior that often - but not always - precede shifts in the RE market.

I am not currently in the market...fired my stockbroker nearly 15 years ago after he lost 95% of my IRA. I gradually rebuilt it on my own then took a hiatus from stocks.

John DL Arendsen - not tried. The best investment should be - Real Estate, I think.

I have someone "play" it for me. He does much better at it than I would.

We are diversified, but when the economy tumbles, every investment loses. You are right in your vision however.

Have a financial adviser that does it for me. Still have my hand in some real estate investments.

Our financial adviser does a wonderful job in handling our portfolio. I believe in doing what I do best and hiring the rest.

I don't play in it and leave my investing to my stock broker and his recommendations. He doesn't do real estate and I don't do stocks.

In my 20s I lost more $$ in stocks and venture capital investments than most people my age made in a year. After that, I went cash and now only invest in real estate. Any stocks I own now are only "fun" stocks just to say I own them.

I jumped into the market in '09 when, like Real Estate in the late '90's and early "00's anyone who could fog a mirror could get a loan. Likewise in '09 the same rule applied to the stock market.
So I've actually taken some of my gains from stock and reinvested in rental and buy and hold RE. But, albeit I'm far from a Warren Buffet, I do buy into his philosophy that's garnered him over 40 billion dollars in his lifetime of buying and holding high yield dividend stocks.
I've found that just as in real estate there's speculators/traders and investors. Guys like Carl Icahn are traders and are in and out for the quick profits while the Warren Buffet model are true long term investors that buy and hold for the long term
In any event I find both sciences very interesting and intriguing and have grown quite comfortable doing both over the past several years. I guess time will tell if what my econ professor said about diversification holds true.
