It's hard to tell here, because there are brokers in three states with DC licenses, and most of us sell in all three areas. In DC there are 1117 total active listings right now, and about 5000 sold last year. But I have no idea how many agents are licensed here. I'm guessing it's a lot.

We have 3,188 active listings in Charlotte proper - single family, condos and townhomes and new construction (the ones that are actually listed in our MLS). We have around 10,000 (and counting) licensees! As with many other metro areas, the top 1-2% do 90% of the business!

I wouldn't even begin to know how to get the active agents county-wide. I know in my portion of town we have over 2100 agents in my association (which doesn't cover those that list from out of the area) and we have 756 active listings.
