Yes, I saw this last week.

They've been using for contractors too. In general, this won't work. I called them to see what was up w/ this. They said they charge the contractors 15% of the full price. No decent contractor would give up that much of his/her profit unless they were new/desperate. For some, that would be 1/2 their profit. But, I could see a few of their specific/small services that are niche work (e.g. assembling/installing a few prods that order on Amazon. These would be small items that handymen can do and customer has no idea how to price and they could charge extra and it wouldn't matter as project is so small. But for large/meaningful jobs it won't go anywhere. It's labor...and people won't discount their labor much and Amazon has no core competency nor competitive advantage there.

Amazon is a powerhouse and could very well make a dent into the online real estate market. It all comes down to local and relationships and that will not change with clients and customers. However those that don't know an agent or don't care may trust Amazon to make the match. Zillow move over.

I heard about this too.  Very interesting, like a test site (with no content) was accidently made live during Prime Day.  My guess is it would be very similar to their other services they sell (house cleaning, TV installs, etc.).  Probably end up being akin to a lead-gen service, that I'm sure will cost a pretty penny as well as a percentage back to Amazon.

I saw this.  I think the real estate industry will look vastly different 10 years from now than it does today, just like it looks vastly different now than it did 15 years ago.  Technology is changing things at a faster rate and we will have to just hang on for the ride I think. -Kasey

I am 100% with Kenneth J. Jones, Director on the tradtional brokerage. Those franchise wanting 6-8% commission to benefit the corporate headquarter. If you do stock trades it used to cost $350 to go through a broker.  With internet it is $6.99.  RE should be a hourly job like other professions.  It does not need as many licencees.
