Corinne, I was rather shocked when we went to pay our sewage bill today at city hall only to find the office was closed all day. Very surprised.

It's a religious holiday in the truest sense of the word. Don't expect we'll ever see that.

Working or not working has never determined if I celebrate holidays or not. I can't even begin to tell you how many years it's been since my family celebrated Thanksgiving on a Thursday, ... 25 or more years ago I'd say. We have law enforcement, health care (EMS), firefighter and restaurant manager in the family. We celebrate when the most of us can be together at the same time. But I do believe that God's sacrifice saved the world and that Easter is our most important celebration... no matter when we celebrate.

When I worked a union sheet metal job it was a holiday if our religion celebrated it. It's a religious, not Federal HOLIDAY. It needs to be way more commercialized and push more retail sales to become a Federal Holiday; it's America after all.

It used to be that all offices closed at Noon on Good Friday, and some businesses do close on Good Friday. I have not seen Easter Monday celebrated in the US as it is in Europe. A

As Nina Hollander said it's a religious holiday. There are some companies that are closed today. That's a pretty funny story!!
Good Friday notes the observation of a religious occasion. The United States does not have an official religion.
The more holidays the better. More time to spend with family and friends.
many businesses have a half day.... Good Friday is Stations of the Cross....
As a banker, I was used to having the day off. You're right, financial markets are closed. Many businesses close early.
I expect that many would love an additonal federal holiday.
I swear it used to be observed, Corinne but, I'm not sure why it is not. Great question to ponder!
Monday did seem like a regular day, not a Holiday.
It is funny as on one had the governement is supposed to get away form politics, yet they take the day off for this
To me Easter is the most important Christian holiday. It is my favorite holiday. And yes, the more the country moves away from its roots, the less important religion is in the way we conduct ourselves and our business.
Schools were closed here - it was both Passover and Good Friday. I had never heard of Easter Monday until yesterday when my sister--in-law mentioned it. She's from London.
All the government offices and schools were closed in my town. Even my office closed but several agents were working. I remember years ago when the banks closed on this day.
Thank you for the story
Keller Williams was closed for Good Friday. Will be open again on Monday.
IN regards to the practice of Christian faith, without Good Friday, all the rest is meaningless.
When the pagans figure out how to commercialize it and the feeble follow, this day too will have lost its relevance except for the faithful.
I'm still wondering why Passover isn't an observed holiday in the US?
Corinne Guest, Managing Broker - I do not have much idea about this.
It is the most important Holiday, unfortunately not enough people believe in what it represents.
My banker complained today that they were closed in the afternoon and his employees were going to the bar.
I remember them both being celebrated when I was a child. I guess that tells my age!
It is a regular day for me today. Tomorrow morning i'm going to church and dragging kids with me.
My last two corporate gigs were in healthcare and retail, two industries that never or seldomly close. I do not believe we got this day off at either job, they only observed the 8 minimum holidays. At other companies they get today off or at least a partial day.
When I worked "corporate America" we only worked a half-day. As for Monday, don't know.
I have always worked on Good Friday so have never given it much thought.
When I was an ignorant young Jewish scamp, I saw a sign that said Jesus Saves and thought...what does he save? Blue Chip stamps were popular then. Today, Easter and Xmas is to be found in the heart and the soul along with all the commandments and the Gospels/prophecies/ bible etc. to be given back upon our deaths..Into your hands I surrender my soul. Do the work now
I am not for that.
Choice. I guess. Never knew about Easter Monday.
And some places close before 3 on Good Friday. Got me hangin', there is no logic at all. No one pays attention to much of any holiday honestly.
