Blue heads and call girls Richard Acree, ADAC, CAPS, CMA ... oh wait, that's this section.

For me the most popular is local news and events in the blogging section.

If I understand your question.  Choose the appropriate topic for the post subject and forget about popularity.  Be genuine.  Be sincere.  Be yourself.  Good luck.

Check out a tool called "Google Trends". You select a topic and it shows you what people are searching most within that topic. I am guessing you would want to write about real estate so your topic would be "real estate".

I think more important than picking a section, write a cacthy title, dont self promote, write something that makes the reader think and want to comment. Make it interesting

This is not something I've ever studied... basically, it's what Michael Jacobs said. And when you talk about popular... are you talking with the public with active rain members? The most read post I ever wrote is about National Short Girl's Day... who'd have thought this would be so popular.

Don't know as I've been here for years & never had anyone do a 'study'.

Posts with great titles get read most that's for sure.

When I go thru my posts by views it is actually funny on what gets read the most. Furnace settings in the winter, how to bury a St Joseph statue, etc.

So .... I don't know.

I suspect it depends whether the reader is an AR member, or a buyer or seller. No doubt it varies by what the needs are at that particular time. Sometimes the popular posts - indicated by clicks, likes and/or comments - can be rather surprising, at least to me!

It depends on YOUR area of expertise.  For an inspector, such as yourself, anything that will help homeowners properly maintain their homes. Agents will also find this information interesting.

The most popular subject for blog written is Just Listed. Takes little effort or thinking.

The most popular blogs read.

The #1 blog read by AR members are those with Zdevil in the subject/title.

The #1 blog read by citizens contain in the subject/title a noun about something they have seen in their community or region. To get them to read again, the writer needs to have their own voice and skip the Pablum.

The #1 blog for lead gen is the one that promises to make the reader smarter. (Example: 8 ways to get the seller to make the 1st concessions...before negotiations start)

My local events posts tend to get the most eyeballs on them. Other than that, local, local, hyperlocal and more local!

Also, I would suggest what YOU enjoy writing about. If you restrict yourself to only local events, you will become bored and stop blogging.

AR has not done much in the way of SEO. I just noticed most agents RE blogs are filtered not available to Google readers. Those constantly blog "Mainstreet my farm" are there for a suprise. Nada.

Often agents has it on their sites also.
