They are a darling of Wall Street. You need to Google them to completely understand their business model . I personally question their business model's long term viability 

They attract & hire...

New agents with no experience.

Long time agents that can't hack it.

No one worth their salt would want to hire on to them. You simply earn more with a another broker and way more with a no split broker like mine. I value meand my skills/experience more than Redfin could ever.

I have no intention of praising or criticizing Redfin in this or any other forum.

They have a customer rebate business model.

Some people shop at Target, some at TJMaxx, Macy's, Nordstrom's and Sakowitz. There's a business model out there for everyone. 

I just know from dealing with them, it is real estate hell. You never know what agent (or level of experience within their team) is going to show up to complete a buy side requirement. It's just horendous. 

I wouldn't think of even going there.

I would never. There is a saying, "I'm not an elephant, I don't work for peanuts".

Redfin is quite famous here.  An agent that I know from a previous brokerage joined them and she is not happy.  I'm not sure whether she is still there or not.

Nothing to say. Never had any deals with that company.

The contract agent does not make much may be 25% of entitled commission to your broker.  You get another cut. Want to try do it FT salaried, benefited working for them logging in 200,000 mile a year.

The company has not been profitable for years. Will sell or merge utimately with this discount model-1% fee.

Whatever I know stays with me. I am not a Redfin Agent nor would I ever be as Redfin does not fit my business model. 

My clients are my friends. I have spent, and continue to spend, thousands of hours in upgrading what I know so I can be the most competent broker to help my friends.

I don’t know how competent Redfin agents are. For their clients sake I hope they can offer their discount and still be as competent as their clients deserve.

What will serve you better are subjects that matter to you personally

If want a Job with a salary - why bother to get into real estate. A significant point of becoming a Real Estate agent is the ability to create as large of a business you want. RedFin tends to make their agents into more of an employee model than a business owner.

Discount brokers have come and gone as far back as I can remember. Perhaps they are just different enough to stay in business- but right now, I just don't see it.

Have you ever heard of glassdoor.com?  It's a review website for workplaces.  Like any anonymous review-type website, there are some tidbits of useful information, but you have to take it all with a grain of salt.

That might be a place to find a little bit of insight.

I suggest you do your due dilligence and fully research their model and their pay structure, if you are considering working for them.  Talk to agents in your area who work for them.  Talk to agents who have had deals with their agents (both as buyers agents and as sellers).
