Yeah I remember odd/even days!
I had just started to drive. If there was a toilet paper shortage we were in extreme violation because I believe it was right around then that we toilet papered the mayor's house!

here's the live link from Raymond's Q . . . I'll be damned! LOL TP crisis and Carson did it!

Raymond E. Camp I remember the gas shortage well but not the TP. I was driving a 69 Grand Prix which was a very beautiful gas guzzler.

There never was a TP shortage in our area or in my lifetime (where it was known to me) until March 2020.

I do remember the gas shortage and fueling up on your "day" and waiting in long lines. I was 5, so I remember the boredom of sitting in the backseat of my mom's original 1964.5 Ford Mustang while waiting in line with no "online" to entertain me.

as others have stated, I remember the gas shortage but not the TP, carpooling and carefully planned trips ruled the day and time allotted for the gas lines...ugh

I do remember 1973.  And I do remember shortages of gas, long lines and odd-even days of going to the gas station.  I also recall when there was full service at stations along with prices that seem to make me feel somewhat nostalgic about filling up the tank for five or ten dollars.

As far as memories of toilet paper - bathroom humor seemingly has no end.

(Hand raised) 16.5% adjustable home mortgage rates too. Maine fired up another toilet paper making machine... how many do you need? We will get through this and to the other side. Learning to conserve and staying at home is way way harder for many of the younger generation who did not live frugally. That have not adopted the skills to make the most of extended tough hunker down times Raymond E. Camp !

I was 6, so no, but i remember the stories and have seen the pictures of gas lines. On that note thannk heavens the USA is now a leading oil producer so the mid east can do that to us again.

I kind of remember the gas shortage, but in 1973 I was living in NY City and working in mid-town... did not own or need a car so the shortage didn't impact my daily life. The subway worked great. Shortage of TP... is that fake news from 1973?

At the time I worked at a grocery and remember for about a month the RUN on TP and parttime at a gas station, the fun part was pumping the gas and cleaning the windshield of a lot of views of mini skirts!

My Dad went to the local paper mill (Hudson, in Palatka Florida) and bought hundreds of rolls of toilet paper.  Not just for our house (six children), but for his dental office and the adjoining medical offices in his complex.

I remember sitting in my mom's car for a long time on even license # days.  I was very young and it must have been a year or two later when it hit our area. I don't remember TP shortages but I may have been potty training at that time.

But, I think I waited longer for gas after superstorm Sandy.

I remember the Jimmy Carter gas shortages in 1979 and only could get gas on odd or even days, depending on car license. It was awful! A car loan was 15%. I had just started working and it was impossible to make enough money.
