FYI, since being a house painter in the late 1970's - early 1990's, I've always known this: It's the worst thing a healthy person can do for your stated reasons and more Richie Alan Naggar.

Reducing your immune system from prolonged wear and at the same time exposing your respiratory system to your own CO2 and moisture build up. We regularly had to de-mask during sanding and spraying to breath fresh air or guys would pass out. You get head, nose, throat and lung issues from prolonged wear on the job pre-COVID.

Unless I'm in an occupied property on tour of homes, in a bank or grocery store, I never wear a mask. I do when required to enter to be respectful, but I remove upon exit.

My personal, harsh opinion is: if you need to wear a mask at large, it's best you  stay home / leave the healthy alone to enjoy sunshine & fresh air. 😂COVID Funny

Good point, Richie.  You may have seen the news where that guy crashed his car in New Jersey the other day, because he had been wearing a mask inside the car for a couple of hours, and passed out from lack of oxygen.

I am having fun with this mask thing, since they made it mandatory in Fresh Market, Costco, and a couple of other places.  I have an assortment of bandannas, including American flags and Confederate battle flags.  (I have gotten thumbs up for both).  I also have an Anon full-face mask (Guy Fawkes).  I wore that one to Costco the other day (I put a surgical mask under it just in case).  When I picked up my prescription, the counter lady laughed when she saw my ID.  "I had no idea that was you, Mr. Griffin".

Speaking of pharmacies, ask any person in the medical field if a cloth bandanna or strap mask will stop a virus.  The answer is NO.

Richie, like the other nurses, surgeons, anesthesiologists, etc. I wore a mask for 12-hours at a time during the YEARS I worked trauma OR in the hospital. We all survived without fatigue or headache or any other untoward reactions.

Don't let the hogwash social media spews keep you from doing the right thing. Protect yourself and others when you are grocery shopping or showing homes, etc. by wearing a mask. How many times have you ever heard of anyone dying from wearing a mask? NEVER!

Yes, masks are no fun!  Cannot wait to be done with them.  Hard to breathe in them and you practically have to yell to be heard clearly.

Another mask tip: if you are not going to cover your mouth and your nose with the mask, don't waste your time wearing it.  Your chin does not usually spew droplets so you don't need a mask just to cover your chin.

Richie as Fred Griffin Tallahassee Real Estate talked about wearing - I'm going to get me some American Flag bandana's to wear.  Worthless but way more fun. Sure I've got a 'real mask' in my purse in case I really need one but that's a rarity.

Does your mask puff up like a balloon as you breathe out and then deflate as you breathe your last exhaled breath back in? No it doesn't, which means your exhaled breath passed through the mask. This myth about masks not working was started because there were not enough masks for the medical professionals, let alone the general public. The stories about masks being dangerous are just outright fake news.

The only time I wear a mask is when I go into a bldg. I keep one with me though, just in case I can't socially distance. The information on a masks effectiveness has lead to confusion of people.

The new rules are getting ridiculous. Wearing a mask while riding a bike alone? Softball players wearing masks on the field? all not wise. Just as people driving a lone wearing masks? I dont get it....

Hi Richie- I bought some masks from a local. There is a pocket where you can place a filter that she also included. I wash the mask after I wear it. That said. I only wear it when I go into a store, then take it off as soon as I get in the car.

I did go into a liquor store a few weeks ago wearing my black mask and thankfully they did not think I was there to rob the place.

Masks are required here when in a line or in a store; encouraged outside.

As a hiker and walker, I remove my mask when striding up steep SF hills, putting it back on momentarily when passing within 6' - 8' of others. I appreciate it when they do the same. I follow the same procedure when on trails in our surrounding park lands.

I've also learned I can breathe easier with a paper mask than with a double-fold cotton bandana.

I nearly passed out in Home Depot this morning.  Hot. I could not breathe with the mask.  I had to leave the store before making my way to the register after spending an hour in the sun selecting plants.

A mask IS better than nothing.

These comments tend to be focused on the thinking of the wearer, but the world is bigger than that.

The 'does nothing' comments seem be to based on some expectation of a guarantee. (can a microscopic pass through the mesh? The is equivalent to me saying, "yes or No, are you off the cocaine?"  All result is wrong responses. Have we lost our common sense. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES! A mask IS a good thing.

Every choice we make everyday should be an improvement on NOTHING.

The same goes for silence, if you can't improve it, keep the mouth shut.

Of course a filter in front of a passageway will reduce flow. So what? Use common sense.

Richie,

We have known this since time immemorial.  My sense is that politicians like looking good by continuing the illusion that they are looking out for us.

My solution to disliking masks is to stay at home as much as possible. When I leave I wear a mask when necessary!
