I think that code is just a myth, they use all sorts of excuses to not deliver the mail.

I believe it comes down to each individual's commitment to their level of service - there are excellent examples of the "the mail must get through" in all industries and of course plenty of examples of those that have lots of "good" reasons why it can not.

Postal workers here drive around in Mail Trucks. The mail boxes are in line with the street. I don't know that they have it that bad here. If the snow prevents them from sticking their arm out the window & placing the mail in the box then they take it back to the PO & you have to go pick it up.

No, I often feel that way when I'm waiting for someone in a blizzard.

The postal folks should up their ante or at least read it once in awhile. What a lazy bunch they are & then I have to hear how they are loosing billions.

I send bulk mail regularly & when I go inside behind the scenes it is truly unbelievable. Our local PO no one is there at all. Just a giant cavern with no workers.  In our giant PO it is 50 times larger with again - no employees to be seen. Everyone moves like a snail so I'll never pay extra for speedy delivery that's for sure.

I am meeting a prospective buyer to show a house today and I will be masked and gloved. When I leave the house, I get to sanitized the entrance doorknob and lockbox. While inside, we are instructed not to touch any surface. Of course, the buyer has to be masked and glove, also.

I prefer super agent.  Out here if there's a trash can within 3 feet of the mailbox the postal drivers will skip your house.  They hate getting out of their cars.

PEOPLE! Just as "ALL" agents are not sleezy creepoids, all postal employees are not lazy do-nothing slugs. Geez. I rarely take offense to anything anyone says, but come on! When my son was a mail carrier, he worked his butt off. He went to work in a blizzard more than once, and did NOT go home early. His truck got stuck more than once. Did you know those things often don't have heat. And they don't have front wheel drive. They suck in the snow. He was FROZEN all day long. His toes were white, his fingers were white. So they do not all sit in a nice truck and stick their hands out the window. AND he was working seven days a week from November through the end of December with only a day off every few weeks. So let's remember that in any industry there are hard workers who are ethical and do the right thing, and there are those that don't. So we shouldn't ever lump people into some category based on their job. Rant over.

Real estate agents who want to work do so no matter what the weather/catastrophes/etc.

I do like a good slogan. Like ....'home of the free and the brave."
Long ago I learned do verify if you don't want to be disappointed.

The truest one I've read is from Abam Auto Service - If our brakes don't stop you something will.

And let's not forget 'Ful service agent."  Don't look behind that curtain.

Richie not sure I'd compare real estate agents to the postal service.  The Postal Service has continually losts billions of dollars a year for years. That's not us guys by any means!!  As for the  postal couriers themselves......many great people.

I guess the simple answer your question as to why real estate agents don't use the postal code of conduct is safety.

If the fire engines won't drive on the road (which happens whent he wind speed it too high during a hurricane), then we're going to postpone your closing.  If you can't see the road because it is flooded, then yea, I'm not going to show you that house.

When powerlines are hanging down in the road (near the water!), I'll risk losing the commission before I risk going through that to get to an appointment.

Mother Nature is stronger than I am.  I can handle the rain, which happens all the time here.  I can handle the heat, which happens more often than the rain.  But when there are times when it makes more sense to cancel.

You can be super agent, but I'll be smart agent.
