Great question, Jocelyn. I can only speculate that with the massive changes AR has been through over the years, the code pertaining to that part of the 'sign up' page was inadvertently disabled.

I cannot imagine that Puerto Rico would have been removed intentionally. We'll run this up the flagpole and see what we can find out.

I can see where at one time Puerto Rico must have been on the list to select, but it's not a field I can currently edit to make it currently available.  We'll inquire with the development team.

Hmmm.... you say that you've "been told time and time again" that Active Rain does not want to add international areas.  I have to wonder "who" told you that? ... because from the sound of things here, and on your blog where you posted the same comment...  Active Rain Member Support doesn't seem to acknowledge anything about it.

We know that Active Rain has members in Canada, and Europe.  I think those count as international.  And you have pointed out that they have Dominican Republic Members, and I'm sure more... (good God, we see profiles almost every morning that show up from India, Afghanistan, Khazakstan, Russia, Ukraine, France, certainly all of those are international, too.) So I have to wonder who told you that, 'cause it doesn't seem to have originated from Active Rain.

And if you want to get "technical", Puerto Rico doesn't even qualify as international, since it's an unincorporated territory of the U.S.

Interesting, you have my vote.  

Great question. Can't say I ever thought about this issue... hopefully, AR development will find a way to resolve it.

Seems to me Puerto Rico should be on the AR list. It is a great vacation island and might offer good opportunities for someone from the U.S. to buy a second home. After all, it is part of America. They use American currency and speak English, for the most part.

ActiveRain was never maintained properly, then changed ownership. Ben has accomplished a lot to bring this platform up to a higher standard. Now that it has eyes on it, the tech team will address what needs to be done. A little patience is necessary.

I suspect that it has nothing to do with whether the location is in the US, more a matter of this old system letting them add a location to the list.

I can't imagine whey Puerto Rico wouldn't be an option. It looks like it is now. Thanks for taking action!
