I used to run about $200/month.  Now, in my new home I have solar.  My first bill was Minus $18.00 and my second bill was $11.00.

Hello Tammy Lankford, my monthly electric bill is from $300.00 to $550.00 per month.

My highest (average) was in the City of Tallahassee.  The City owns the Power "Company", so the bill includes a slew of hidden taxes and fees.  Typically $300 per month.  We moved to northeast Tallahassee some years ago, our provider there is Talquin Electric... the bill averaged  $150.

 At our mountain house in South Carolina, the provider is Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative.  The average bill is $150, but a couple of freezy-frosty months this past winter, we hit $300.

My power bill includes all heat and air conditioning in our home (plus all the normal appliances/lights) and also includes a heater we added in our 24x24' workshop. Our average monthly bill over the last year was $159.17.

We're in a condo so not really a valid comparison since the monthly condo fee covers all exterior lighting. Our monthly electric bill runs around $110 average but will be higher in the summer once the heat and humidity arrive.

A few years ago our electric company, Florida Power & Light, was offering free energy updates and our Board required each unit owner to have one. The only two things they did in our unit was to put an insulated cover over the water heater and change the shower heads to energy savers that you could pause the water while showering.

If your power company offers a free "energy" study, it might be worth having them come to your house and do it to see what, if anything, they find.

I live in California.  What else needs to be said about that?  I would estimate my "average" utility bill to be $200/month. That is gas and electricity. 

Ours is averaged out and covers the house, garage workshop, pool and spa  It runs under 200.  I expect it will go up this next year but not by much. We have done a lot to make our home energy efficient and that has helped out a lot.

Mine ranges from zero to around $30/month since I have solar panels on my home.

Funny but, we get the reports, saying we are 30+% under what we should be on usage!! LOL

We are 3,400 SF and average $220/month for power.

I have 3500 sf and my electric & gas is on budget billing of $120/month.  Last month it was $75.

We have a pool , 2 heat pumps one w/ oil back-up and average between 300 to 350 a month w/ Potomac Edison & WGL Energy through our local Chamber of Commerce.

It's not fair to compare your power bill to mine.  I live near a large metropolitan city where the utility costs are substantially higher than in your area.

But I would assume (maybe incorrectly) in coming up with an "average", they are comparing your usage with some of your neighbours.

It is cheaper to air condition than to heat in my condo.  Typically less than 200 per month.  But it depends, we are all electric and I do keep an eye on the thermostat.  Wearing sweaters in the summer with the ac spitting ice cubes does not make sense to me. 

In an apartment in the sky, the electric bill is constantly under $50. Some months under $40.

Mine is combined with trash and utilities & water. Yes, it fluctuates according to seasonal changes. $175-$300 depending on how hot it gets. In any event, all these charges are inflated to allow for pensions, operating costs & profit. 

My high bills August and September are about 350 a month. My low bills December and January are about 75 a month.

It could just be a letter that they send to everyone.

In between, it's relatively affordable --- but if I had to average, I'd guess ~$3-400/month for everything - gas, electric, water.

Really really lucky because Houlton Water Company is the local power utility. Not for profit, lower our rates and not out to make money. We have lots of industrial users because of low power which means more jobs. My electric bill in winter is about $75 or less a month in home, $25 in summer. I have electric heat in office, LED digital sign light out front, computers, everything and total bill a year is $600 to $700. I know, lucky to have HWC in my small Maine town. It provides the farm and lake homes too, same grid. Can't fathom a $200 monthly bill for juice Tammy Lankford, !

Our annual expense for electricity appx $110.00 per month. Over the years, I have improved the insulation and replaced all windows. 

$0.00  We have PV and batteries so we don't have a monthly bill.  Of course the start up cost is high, but well worth it in Hawaii where the electric rates are the highest in the country.
