The one you are mentioning from this morning is a Rainmaker and pays for the ability to market his services. In this case, his services are buying homes which does fit with the overall theme of ActiveRain. So while it's annoying to see ten different posts with just the location different, it doesn't appear to be breaking any rules.

You may wonder about the difference between a spammer and a serial poster. A spammer typically floods platforms with unsolicited messages. Your inbox might fill with irrelevant ads or promotions you didn’t ask for.
On the other hand, a serial poster shares very similar content repeatedly. This person often tries to drive engagement by posting the same message multiple times. While it can be annoying, their intent isn’t always malicious.
These repeat postings can sometimes come off as desperate or unoriginal. Your experience may feel cluttered and frustrating as a result.
Understanding this distinction can help you navigate online platforms better. Recognizing these patterns allows you to filter out unwanted noise.
In the end, both spam and serial postings can disrupt your online experience. Knowing how to manage them will help keep your feed focused and enjoyable.

Are you referring to the "drive-by" copy-and-paste comments that are the same regardless of the blog post's topic, just to get points? Or are you referring to the same article being posted by numerous bloggers?

Spammers usually have an ulterior motive, and most of the time that motive is illegal, unethical, or immoral.
The serial posters are simply trying to gain maximum internet exposure. They believe (and may be correct) that multiple postings will increase their SEO, get more eyeballs on their page.
ActiveRain Staff took action on this a year or so ago. You may remember when some Realtors would post literally hundreds of posts in a row; they would absolutely dominate the AR website. Staff put a "10 posts per day" limit on everyone, that stopped it.
Scroll through this thread, ActiveRain Member Support has addressed the issue of "serial posters" in a reply to a reply.

I have been reporting one of the people who cut and paste the exact same comment to each and every post as spam, but I don't think anything will be done about it. It's allowed in the Rain and since nothing will ever be done to stop it, it will become acceptable. It's the woke mind virus, everyone has to be treated nicely, even if they are doing something inappropriate, it's wrong to say something about it because they might get offended, haha. That is certainly not my way and the only way to change things is to stop things from continuing to occur that shouldn't be occurring. It's why our government is allowed to do what they do, people just accept it, won't do anything about it, won't say anything about it, it sucks, in my opinion.

Like the world itself, AR is vast (okay, arguably on some accounts). Like any place it isn't always "pretty". Intruders and disrupters aplenty are a part of the landscape.
I guess specific definitions might help but the power to ignore is just another test I see as a bonus of membership in this community.

Spammers tend to sell goods outside of the real estate industry, like marijuana seeds and butt plugs and let's not forget the escort services from places as far as Kangaskhan.
Robo-posters copy/paste their listings with minute changes in location, property size, address and price. Glad they are now limited in the blog role instead of 100's per day.

Well......
There is probably some profit they both expect.
Here is a quick G. research:
''Based on the work of crafty computer scientists who have infiltrated and monitored spammers' activity, we estimate that spammers and spam-advertised merchants collect gross worldwide revenues on the order of $200 million per year.''

Missed the offending party, hope it was a short spurt of posts.
Spam is never fun and I often wonder about their motives and success rate.
However there are some prolific hard core bloggers here who do annoy many here when they fill the blog roll for a while each day.
I applaud their work ethic and optimism and hope that it will help them to dominate in their market niche.

Not a lot in my opinion. But perhaps harm to others is a difference. Serial commenters usually just hurt themselves.
