People who need an excuse make them up as they go along. The election is a convenient excuse right now. Maybe after the election it will be "I'll wait for Spring", or a multitude of other possibilities.

It's the dumbest thing! Buyers are hesitant right now because they are expecting mortgage rates to go down; this is real.

The magical interest fairy Michael Elliott . While I do believe they will get back to the rate they were under the next/past president I would not hold my breath. I would advise "Buy now and re-fi later".

Home again, home again...

You'd have to ask them.  My clients are not waiting for anything.  I just had an offer accepted, and their loan is for 6.07% 30-year fixed conventional.  What's to wait for?

You know, in all these years I don't recall anybody using an election as the reason not to buy a home now.  And I'm not hearing from anybody now either.

To know if we're headed for a recession or not and if their money will be better served investing in real estate or the market. (so they told me).

One candidate will be good for the economy, the other will create a slew of new taxes including one on unrealized capital gains.  One will enact policies that benefit the country, the other will continue with the same destructive policies we have now.

 . . . either a boy or a girl or whatever the pronouns say . . .

There 'can be reasons' but more in commercial than residential

EXAMPLE a friend had 5M worth of prime land up the hill, buyer was gonna build medical . . . he said "if [the guy with ACA] gets elected I'm out." 11-7-12 he was out. His development plan was about to become far less profitable . . .

The same thing that folks waiting for interest rates to drop.  missing the boat is the short answer and the only one ARMS would allow.

My sense is buyers believe the media and the media we know has a tendency not to present all the facts. Buyers also listen to family and friends. Buyers believe rates will go down after the election. There is still the pipe dream being held on by some buyers, the interest rates will dip below 4%.

A convenient answer to remain on the fence until after the election, thinking the market will magically make their house worth so much more, until they realize the window to get more money for their property has passed.

sigh...🙄

Right? I've been busy now that the interest rates have dropped a little.

If it gets better then prices will go up.

And, only half the people will be happy.
