I suggest it. Each scenario is its own thing. Some properties are stressed more than others.

Yes. I've always suggested putting in new locks asap (whether that means a new piece of hardware or just rekeying is up to them). Who knows who has spare keys?

I always advise that they have the home rekeyed, but I don't think they would need to change out all of the door handles.  They could certainly do that if they wanted a different style though.

100% My locksmith is one of my closing referrals.
They know - especialy when purchasing a formal rental, that there are potentially many unrecovered keys floating about.

Reminds me of a deadbolt lock i.e. it is a second lock & its purpose? Peace of mind. So it is with your decent question. There is no way a seller would reenter the home after the sale but who knows who would? Change locks

I ALWAYS recommend one of these with an existing home.   With a new home, they get a key that will turn the tumblers for the first time.

ABSOLUTELY! Who KNOWS who else may have had and/or copied a key! We've all heard about AGENTS doing it while house is on market even!

I advise our new owners to have the locks re-keyed. Who knows who may have a key to the house...friends of the seller, family members of the seller, neighbors?

Home warranty companies that we use provide coverage for rekeying a certain number of locks. I point that out to the new owner.

I use to have a deal with a locksmith to rekey the buyers new home but he got to high in price for me to do it all the time.  Not I recommend it to the  buyer

Some of the home warranty companies out here offer a free re-key for a couple of locks.  I always recommend getting them re-keyed or if they're older locks, replacing them and putting long screws into the frames and locks.

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

Absolutely, I always recommend that my buyers consider changing those locks! Think of it this way: when you move into a new home, you’re not just getting four walls and a roof; you're stepping into a whole new chapter of your life.

Now, just like you wouldn’t want someone else’s old habits lingering around, the same goes for old keys. Re-keying or installing new locks gives you peace of mind. It ensures only you and your loved ones have access to your space. After all, the last thing you want is to worry about who might have a key to your new front door, right?

So, yes, I definitely encourage my clients to take that step. It's a small investment in security that makes a big difference in how at home you’ll feel.

It's always suggested that the buyer change the locks. Whether they do it or not is on them, but I always suggest that they should.

After living in a house for years, recognize that many people might have or had access to a key. This includes maintenance personnel, babysitters, housekeepers, kids, pet sitters, friends, family, ex-spouses, and neighbors. And there may be hidden keys.

Don't even consider not changing or rekeying the locks!

It is advisable to rekey any house purchased.  I don't always remember to tell my clients this though.

We always advise to at least re-key.  You never know who might still have a key including agents, neighbors, friends and family members.
