As you well know, hurricanes, tornadoes, hail, and some sink holes are typical here in Florida. Being prepared is a must, It has been foretold. Mathew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.   Stay safe my friend!

In Utah, where I spend most of my time Fred, you get the four seasons each one sharing/giving what they do & I love it Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate ...in the foothills, by the golf course, it gets custom weather of all types. For those that speak about climate control, you are missing out on what climate does. Good share here & thank you Fred

tornadoes are fairly common here.  Mostly small.  Had a large one stay on the ground for 20 miles back in 1992... personal loss in that one.

Actually, our area has been very fortunate so far. New England is not prone to most of the natural disasters, which should be a big draw for potential buyers. True, we could have floods (VT had them, but it's rare); we had an EF-1 come through (again very rare), minor tremors and some fires due to carelessness, but overall nothing at all major. Very lucky.

In Denver we have hail almost every spring.  So far none, but still is early.   Normally end of May/first of June.  We can get tornadoes, definitely fires, but usually they are in the mountains.

No natural disasters so far here in metro Fort Lauderdale.  We have enjoyed the best winter spring season in a very long time.  We have had sporadic wild fires as we await the rainy season and of course the threats of hurricanes.

Wild fires and coastal area hurricane flooding are relatively common in our area, although we have had a few of minor earthquakes over the past 10 years.

Earthquakes are extremely rare here but I believe they have happened Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate . In 1969 we had "the mother of all floods" and then we had another in 2011 that was much worse. each one was considered a 100 year flood. We have not had a big fire right in Minot but this year we have had some pretty close by. One problem with The Great Plains region is the winds blow smoke in here from anywhere West and North.

I heard about that Fred.  Scary stuff.  Who knows if that's possible here.....have not heard that.  We do get some pretty crazy monsoon storms during summers and I recall one year we were almost flooded out on 3 sides......thank God it stopped.  Fire can be an issue here......and the city is on it all of the time.  Which I  like!

Hi Fred- Larry and I seem to land in hurricane areas. I grew up in Houston so have experienced hurricanes in FL and Houston. We had tornadoes last year.

Here in Houston #1 would be hurricanes which could bring flooding

The Los Angeles City Fire Department had a great shirt in the early/mid 90s that they sold called "The Four Seasons of California".  Fires, Earthquakes, Floods, and Riots.

Fires, floods/mudslides, and earthquakes are our biggies.  But out here, a 4.1 magnitude quake doesn't even get us out of bed or make the news.  :)

Not a huge factor for me, Fred. (One of the reasons we moved to Charlotte 25+ years ago.) I rarely have clients moving here bring up the issue.

The risk of natural disasters occurring in my area of central Washington is relatively low, with the exception of wildfires. Western Washington is much more prone.

The biggest potential problem here is wildfires. We're actually getting some tree thinning taken care of this week, to help reduce the fuel.

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

Hurricane Hugo in 1989 rocked our world in Charlotte like none other. Helene in 2024 was the next hurricane to hit inland that was of any significance. We don't really see a lot of natural disasters in the Charlotte Metro - thank God!

I do have to say that I read the article "Earthquake Rattles Largest City in Southeast United States." I find it hilarious that no one realizes (even journalists)  that Jacksonville, FL is the largest city in the southeastern US! Everyone thinks it's ATL!

We are not known for much in the way of natural disasters. But on occasion, it is surprising. THIS WAS LAST WEEK! 4 inches of rain in a few hours, the first images are the auto repair walking distance from me . . . there's a huge storm drain just beyond the building but you can see it flooded bad!

My house maybe 1/3 mi east, nothing but a little water coming through a window that has since been re-sealed . . .

This is why EVERYONE should have flood insurance whether they're in FP or not! MOTHER NATURE CAN'T READ A FEMA MAP!  Our entire neighborhood including that shop building graded up 5 ft above BFE.

I'm not sure whether the drowning vehicles are all the shop's OR employees of the grow operation across the street!
