Yes, this is not something I see commonly any more but earlier in the year and last year I did see it somewhat regularly.  These fake leads are an evolution of the "here's what I'm looking for in an excel spreadsheet" attacks.

 

The instant "whatsapp" gets mentioned, I'm out.  If you start a conversation on email, you can keep it going there.  Whatsapp is insecure and used heavily by scammers and foreign adversaries to cyber attack people.

Yes, occasionally - but I delete & block because just like Craig's List and Zillow - What's App has become a minefield for fraud. 😱  I don't use WhatsApp for this reason - I deleted the APP a couple years ago.

I delete those as they are scammers.  We've used "whatsApp" with one client who was a dual citizen who was moving to London, but we met her here at her GA home when we listed it and that's the only legit user we've encountered.  Real people don't contact you and say Hey use whatsapp.

I had a website contact yesterday, and it was a request to contact on WhatsApp.  I'm fine with using WA with my Annapolis classmates to stay in touch, but I'm always going to look sideways at a first contact that gives me generic house needs (but no mention of specific location or budget) and wants WhatsApp as their primary contact.

I had an incident happen about a year ago with WhatsApp, and deleted the app.  I get many web visitors who are scammers and ask for generic info, but please call me on WA.  DELETE.

However, think I will need to add it again once I move overseas to stay in touch with friends here.

WhatsApp could be corrupt in regards to the people that won't communicate in any other manner.  I'm not sure of their end game but they are always phoney leads.
