Michael J. Perry don't get me started!  The transfer portal and NIL are ruining college sports. Coaches are recruiting 24/7. As a consumer, there would be no more loyalty to a "team" or brokerage firm because the team is always changing.

So our brokers could know who is jumping ship? Does not seem like a good idea to me.

Sorry, Michael... but I have no clue what a transfer portal is so I have no opinion.

I have no opinion because I know nothing about football, nor do I care to learn.

Given that I fly solo as an independent broker and I have no plans to join another brokerage or take on other agents, this would not impact me or my business.

Presently agents do not publicize their intention to make a move and are recruited all the time being offered a better deal supposedly. Having a portal and making it public knowledge they are seeking new affiliation would have a detrimental effect on their business.

NIL in college football is ruining it. It makes college athletes temporary workers for hire.

Likely things would become a hot mess, quick, fast and in a hurry. The division of Real Estate would constantly be playing catch up with a frenzy of transfer activity. Since listings are property of the Broker, could be lots shenanigans and contentious negotiations post sale. Not to mention recruiting a high producing team leader and then the team doesn't follow to the new Broker and the New Broker doesn't get the expected ROI? Ugh! No thanks!

Foolish for agents or players to put their name into such a portal.

It is hard to understand why some REALTORS transfer brokerages regularly. One spends a lot of time developing their brand and to have to unwind and reestablish again takes effort. Football players in college that are paid now go for the highest dollar and that is all they seem to care about.

Wow Michael and glad to see you in the Q & A section, miss some of your blogs.  With that said, I wonder what the big picture would look like of top Agents switching to other Brokers and if they would be paid to be there.  I am not a fan of football player playing the next year, I wish they would have to sit out for a year.

It already exists!  When top producing agents are showing results their phone is always ringing.  The recruiters for the big guns attempt to lure them, entice them and move them to another umbrella.  No need for a portal Michael J. Perry

This would lead to us being  under a contract.  Brokers would bid for us and demand some amount of years of sercice.  I always enjoyed being a Free Agent.

The transfer portal has ruined college sports, just like free agency destroyed pro sports. Its all about the 💲💰!! Maryland already has a transfer portal where an agent can change Brokers online with out talking with their current Broker. The previous Broker gets notified by email that the agent has left the company.

No thanks. I feel the same way as Kathy Streib on this subject. Moving around a lot is not my idea of fun or a successful business model!

I am not sure if that does not exist already.  Agents are always reaching for that elusive gold ring.
