The number is. The problem is that so many of the burner phone numbers are fake numbers.

Occasionally, I get a call from someone who is identified by my phone as "Unknown".

If I get a call that has a number displayed with no name, it is probably not someone that I know. 

I also get calls that are identified as "Suspected Spam".

I believe that caller ID is a feature provided by your phone carrier- but today's mobile phones have the feature built in ready to work with your carrier.
