Like old home week to see who commented. So many no longer with us here in the Rain. Remember when you got point for commenting on a wuaestion and the decision to eliminate the points. 

While I lurked more than I was active back then, I vaguely remember getting points that racked up quickly or being abused.

It is an interesting question and a very interesting trip down memory lane.  It does ask the question, why we do what we do.  That answer has probably changed since those days.  

I remember not being a big fan of it at the time, did not reply to this question until a few years later.

it is nice to go back now and see a lot of faces that we have not seen around here in a while.  Unfortunately some have passed away as well.

Let's visit the way- back machine.  2014 appears to be a time in the Rain when developers and back-end support communicated with the membership and solicited feedback.  

How interesting to see so many names and faces that no longer participate and, also, those that still do.
