I would need to crunch the numbers for that neighborhood or locale, and see if the ROI is there for a fixer-upper.
And a renovated home - is it truly renovated (roof, HVAC, wiring, plumbing, etc.) or is it only cosmetic (paint, carpet, countertops)?

I am personally not very handy- and probably shouldn't be allowed near tools for that matter. I do have a few good contractors- so I would have to balance the cost of renovation, the headaches, the time- and customizations to determine if a fixer upper would even work for me. More likely, I would go for the renovated home- but it's not a lock.

Mt first 4 houses were always the fixer in the nice neighborhood. Our current home we bought a renovated home in a nice neighborhood, but still found upgrades and projects to do. Investment wise I've done both ways too - fixers and rehabs for LTR and Renovated for STR.

It depends on whether I'm going to be living there and what needs to happen. In other words, if the lower priced fixer-upper had an unusable kitchen, and I had to live in the house while the kitchen was being fixed/updated, I'd pass. If, however, I was buying it to rent out, I just might take the home and redo the kitchen.

I like turnkey houses.
But...if I could get a fixer at a very attractive price, I might go for it.

Depends on the amount of renovation necessary and the time I had to devote to the project. As for a renovated home, I would have to see evidence of draws, receipts for materials and a title search showing no liens. And I would have a home inspection to make the the workers done properly.

100% fixer-upper! I always wind up remodeling anyway so, why not spend some of what you saved on the lower-priced fixer-upper on some fabulous renovations?!
I love older homes + I have a fantastic contractor that I've been working with for years. I design, he carries the design out to a 't' and I am one happy camper!

Time and labor are the most precious assets we have. For most modern families, paying more for a beautifully renovated home is the right choice because they want to live in it on day one. Leave the fixer-uppers to the high-volume investors who have the heavy backend systems in place to manage the chaos!

Really depends. Flipping homes is what my family does, so fixers don't bother me. But if I were relocating out of state (which is a VERY strong possibility come November), then I'd only look at fully renovated homes as I wouldn't have the ability to have the work done.

Depends on the fixer. How salvageable it is.
However in general, if the ''bones'' are good, personally I would like to get a lower price and customize my property myself. ( I do know many vendors who would help with repairs)

At my age I want as close to possible as perfect and am willing to pay for it. I actually considered FL to keep the small family together but could not find anything close to that. Add on the cost of insurance and we opted to keep the family split.

Depends on the quality of the renovation and how much work fixer-upper might entail.
