The Fly Jock:  Tom Joyner is in the 'Ham for the Magic City Classic In 2006, Tom Joyned served as the Grand Master of the 65th Magic City Classic Parade and Ambassador on "Game Day" and I think he has been coming to the Magic City Classic ever since, along with his TJMS crew (J. Anthony Brown and Sybil Wilikes).  John Joyner and the crew are taping the show live this morning alongside the 1000's of tailgaters at Legion Field. NOTE TO Tailgates:  If you called in today with a sudden case of the Magic City Classic Flu...Stay away from the microphone.  Stay away from the microphone.            This year's Grand Master or should I say grand mistress of the Classic Parade is Lisa Raye-McCoy from the hit show Sinle Ladies Others expected around town for the Classic weekend are:  Comedians and...

Bham Real Estate is just as susceptible to market fluctuation as the rest of the major cities in the US, but there is good news: according to data obtained from Zillow.com, Birmingham home prices are up 7.7% year-over-year as of the period ending 9/30/2011. You'll find some demographic info for Bham Real Estate here.   This has been a test of the efficacy of ActiveRain's Google Juice.

Let's Get This Party Started:  It's Finally Here....Magic City Classic Weekend Or as we used to say back in the day "It's A On Like-A Pop-A-Cone." One thing that is undeniable:  It ain't no party like a Magic City Classic Tailgate Party.  RV's have been pulling in to town all weeks and the flood gates to Legion Field RV parking swung wide open. Everybody is welcome to stop by any RV and dine like fat cats.  Get your choice of ribs, chicken, grilled corn on the cob if you fancy a little soul food delight.  Oh but dont' stop there.  If you feel like Living Lavida "Lobster" you'll find that too.  As a matter of fact, if you taste pallet desires it or craves it, you'll find it among the hundreds of parties going on at Legion Field. We've got alumni from all points north, south, east and wes...

Buyer Pays Her Own Way & It's a Wrap Last week I posted about a buyer who had contacted me about an unlisted property that she wanted to buy and wanted to know what to do next.  Luckily for me and her, she knew that the first step was to contact a competent Realtor® which just so happened to be me. She had now problem paying for the services provided and paid 1/2 of my fee upfront and yesterday we wrapped up the deal. She got the house.  A burden has been lifted off of the seller.  And everyone's a happy camper. Buyer's will pay if they see value in the services that we provide. Don't underestimate the buyer and don't devalue your worth by not offering the value option of fee based menu driven services offered to consumers. My name is Charita Cadenhead, and I'm an Accredited Constultant...

Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth:  Birmingham's Loss of an Original Foot Soldier Rev Fred Shuttlesworth, a name many may not recognize as an integral part of the Civil Rights Movement, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011.  When we speak of the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. Martin Luther King comes prominently to mind.  But what a lot of people don't know is that had it not been for Rev. Shuttlesworth, we would probably know little about King.  You see, it's long been said that Rev. Shuttlesworth called upon King to lead the Civil Rights Movement.  Reverend Shuttlesworth was 89 years old and had suffering from ill health for the past several years.  We wish his family well and express our deepest sympathy for the loss of the man and the legend. Why is my credit score different from what the lending is seeing? There are a few misunderstandings happening recently concerning the credit rating range that usually happens when consumers pull their own credit opposed to when a lending institution pulls a credit report. I think this really is brought on by the recent introduction from the VantageScore as well as the FICO rating which we all have been accustomed to using over the years. I’ll briefly describe the primary variation between the two in order to clean up these particular misunderstandings. VantageScore range vs. FICO score range VantageScore range: 501-990 FICO range: 300-850 With viewing this, you can see the two ratings overlap. This really is exactly where, I think, the actual issues about the existence of FICO scores ove...

Bham WIiRE Agent, Faye C. Morrow Finally Takes the AR Plunge As many of you may know, Faye Morrow joined Bham WIiRE Realty a short while back.  She has been an invaluable addition as far as I'm concerned.  Faye's strength is working with buyers so homebuyers in the Birmingham area would be lucky to have such a dedicated pro on their side. You probably also know (without my saying it) that I've been boasting relentlessly about the infinite advantages of being an ActiveRain member.  Chief among the benefits are the endless supply of lessons to be learned. By Faye's own admission, she'd much prefer to work with numbers than to write a blog post or anything else for that matter.  But she has been taking baby steps by reading some of my favorite bloggers and she's taken the big step of joini...
