  URBAN COOKHOUSE HELPS OWL'S HOLLOW FARMS!   Last month when winter weather hit Alabama, Rod Palmer's hydroponic farm in Gadsden suffered the loss of six greenhouses that collapsed under the weight of snow and ice.  Owl's Hollow Farms supplies fresh and organically grown vegetables to many of Birmingham's finest restaurants and markets, including Urban Cookhouse in Homewood.  Not only did he lose an entire crop of lettuce, but the greenhouses were not covered by the insurance company.       Yesterday Urban Cookhouse donated 100% of the proceeds from that day's sales of their take-out dinners to help Mr Palmer.  I understand it was so successful they ran out of dinners to sell!    I'm having trouble imbedding the news coverage at Urban Cookhouse, so here is a link to it instead.        ... 02/10/2011

  UPDATE ON MY DAD 6 Months of Serious Illness And HE'S DOING SO WELL!!!       Six months ago I jumped into my SUV and headed to ReTechSouth in Atlanta....so excited to meet up with friends and get together for a fun learning opportunity!  Some I had met in person at REBarCamp RDU and some for the very first time.  LOVED IT!  So excited to get home and begin implementing all the many new things I learned there!   Oh, but life has a way of making changes in the best of plans.......   Just a couple of hours after returning home I got the call that my Dad was rushed to the hospital and his chances of survival were slim.  We gathered and faced scary stuff......REALLY scary first days....turning into weeks and months.  Progress but lots of setbacks over the summer, and each time a setback ca... 10/02/2010

   Fun Stuff To Do Around Birmingham! Homewood has a lot of things going for it. Great views, beautiful homes and close to just about everything. So when my new listing came up at 1636 Beckham Drive, Homewood Alabama, I got pretty excited. During my search of homes currently listed in Homewood, I came to realize a few things. Not only is there homes big enough and pricey enough to belong to Donald Trump, but there is so many reasonably priced that many can afford. I found a condo at 5537 Hampton Heights that was gorgeous inside and yet only priced at $134,900. This is absolutely a buyers market through out the Birmingham area! The Best Shoe Store in Homewood!  Homewood, AL   Now I must admit I am biased since my wife is an owner, but Shoefly is a fantastic women's shoe store in Homewood, AL!  Open for almost 7 years, Shoefly is a women's boutique shoe store right in the heart of downtown Homewood, AL a suburb of Birmingham, AL. First let me point out that "boutique" does not necessarily mean expensive.  In some cases it does, but not at Shoefly.  There is a price point for every shopper (especially when the flip flops are in during the summer).  The owners and employees are friendly and enjoy getting to know the customers on a personal level.  Something you don't always find at a large department store. Home Buyer Tax Credit - Income Limits   I was talking to a client the other day.  She lives in what we in Hoover, Alabama would call an "upper bracket" neighborhood.  Now I realize what is considered Upper Bracket in California or NYC or Washington D.C., pricewise is not the same as the greater Birmingham, Alabama area, but this neighborhood and her house are VERY NICE.  She's been thinking about downsizing, part because she doesn't need quite so much space and part because she wants to reduce her monthly payments.  We were discussing if this would be a good time to list HER HOME for Sale.
