Marcellus Neal was born in Lebanon, Tennessee back in 1868.  Shortly after his birth the family moved to Greenfield, Indiana.  He excelled academically in high school graduating with distinction.  His high school academic record earned him a scholarship to Indiana University enrolling in the fall of 1891.During his time at college he was a member of the Married Folks’ Club.  After graduation, he did graduate work, held short-term teaching jobs and traveled, spending time in Europe and Canada.  He served as head of the science department at Washington High School in Dallas, Texas for nearly twenty-five years.  he left Dallas and moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked at a Civil Service job.  On October 20, 1939, he was struck by a car in a hit and run, he later died of his injuries, ...

Thomas Mapother IV was born in Syracuse, New York back in 1962 to Thomas and Mary.  He spent his childhood in Canada before moving to Beacon Hill, Ottawa where he attended the Robert Hopkins Public School.  He returned to the United States when he was in the sixth grade.  He attended the St. Francis Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thomas Buchanan McGuire Jr. was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey back in 1920.  He graduated from Sebring High School in Sebring, Florida.  After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  He left after his third year to enter the U.S. Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet in 1941.He reported to the flying school in Corsicana, Texas for further training.  He was commissioned a second lieutenant receiving his pilot winds in 1942.  His first combat assignment was later that year in the Aleutian Island.  In 1943, he was sent to the Southwest Pacific with the 9th Fighter Squadron based in New Guinea.  During august 18-19 he shot down 5 aircraft of the enemy making him as ace in two days.  By December of 1943 he was promoted to captain and in 1944 became the comma...

Helen Magill was born in Providence, Rhode Island back in 1853 to Edward and Sarah.  She was brought up to believe she deserved the same education as a man.  All five of the Magill daughters were educated to become college teachers.  In 1959, the family moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she was the only female student in the Boston Public Latin School.  My guess would be it was because her father taught French and Latin there for three years, being promoted to submaster.In 1869, her father joined the faculty of Swarthmore College.  she entered as an undergraduate.  In 1871, her father was selected as the second president, a position he held for the next 17 years.  Helen served as principal for a private school in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  In 1883, she was chosen to help organize Holl...

Graça Simbine was born in Gaza Province, Portuguese East Africa back in 1945.  She attended the Methodist mission schools.  He continued her education attending the University of Lisbon in Portugal studying German.  She was fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and English.  After graduation she joined the Mozambican Liberation Front.In 1992, she received the Africa Prize, awarded annually to an individual who has contributed to the goal of eliminating hunger in Africa.  In 1997, she was honored with the Dame Commander of the Order of the British empire by Queen Elizabeth II for her contribution and services in the field or human rights protection.  She has been chancellor for the University of Cape Town from 1999-2019.  In 2009, she was appointed to the Commonwealth of Nations...

John Alexander Macdonald was born in Ramshorn parish in Glasgow, Scotland back in 1815 to Hugh and Helen.  In 1820, the family moved to Kingston, Canada.  In 1829, his father was appointed a magistrate for the Midland District west of Kingston.  When he was 10 the family sent him to Midland District Grammar School.  He stayed until he reached 15 and left.  He started studying law travelling by steamboat to Toronto he passed the examination set by The Law Society of Upper Canada.  He was a promising student, and in the summer of 183, he managed the Mackenzie office.  Later that year he was sent to manage the law office of a Mackenzie cousin who had fallen ill.  He was called to the bar in 1836.  One of his earliest clients was Eliza Grimason who sought his advice concerning a shop for he...

Eugene Bennett Fluckey was born in Washington, D.C. back in 1913. He graduated from Wester High School when he was 15.  He was a member of the Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.  He prepared for the Naval Academy at Columbian Preparatory School in Washington. Frank Luke Jr. was born in Phoenix, Arizona Territory back in 1897. While growing up he excelled in sports, working in copper mines and participating in bare-knuckle boxing matches.  When the United States entered into World War I he enlisted in the Aviation Section, U.S. Signal Corps on September 25, 1917.He received pilot training in Texas and California.  After graduation, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1918.   He was deployed to France and in July of 1918 was assigned to the 27th, Aero Squadron.  He was arrogance and had tendencies to fly alone, disobeying orders.  However, the standing orders was to destroy German observation balloons.  He continually volunteered to attack those important targets.  Between September 2 and 29th he was credited with shooting down 14 Germa...

Alfred Lucas was born in Chorlton-upon Medlock, Manchester, England back in 1867 to Joshua and Sarah.  He studied chemistry in London at the Royal School of Mines and the Royal College of Science.  After graduation, he worked for eight years as an assistant chemist at the Government Laboratory in London.In 1897, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis moving to Egypt a year later where he made a complete recovery.  She served as a chemist with the Egyptian civil service for the rest of his career.  In 1923, he planned to retire however he accepted the position of Consulting Chemist to the Antiquities Service and later of honorary consulting chemist, which he held until his death in 1945, he was 78.What you may not know about Alfred is that he is best known for being part of Howard Carter’s t...

Harry Love was born in Vermont circa 1810, he left home at an early age to be a sailor.  Ending up in Texas he fought in the Mexican-American War with the U.S. Army.  By 1846, he served as a scout, an army express rider and led an exploration up the Rio Grande.  By 1850, he joined the California Gold Rush but was unsuccessful in the mines.  He wound up being a Deputy Sheriff in Santa Barbara, California.  By 1852, he was working as a bounty hunter.  In 1853, California Governor John Bigler started the California Rangers placing Harry as the commander.  By order of the governor he gave Harry specific order to capture or kill Joaquin Murrieta.  On the morning of July 25, 1853 near Monterey four men were killed, two captured and three escaped.  One of the men killed was Murrieta, assuring ...

Jacob Lumbrozo was born in Lisbon, Portugal his exact date of birth is unknown. Clarence Walton Lillehei was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota back in 1918 to Clarence and Elizabeth.  He attended West High School graduating in 1935.  After graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota earing 4 degrees including a B.S. Fielding Lewis was born at Warner Hall, in Gloucester County, Colony of Virginia back in 1725 to John and Frances.  His mother died in 1731.  He worked for his father, at a retail store taking it over in the 1750’s.  he was a successful merchant before the American Revolutionary War.  During the war he was appointed as Commissary General of Munitions.In 1769, he started construction of a large Georgian mansion which was completed in 1775.  It contained some of the most refined colonial interiors of any surviving mansion.  It has been designated a National Historic Landmark and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  He died in 1781, he was 56.What you may not know is that he was the brother-in-law to someone you may have heard of, George Washington.Your day is worth...

Thelma Adele Patten Law was born in Huntsville, Texas back in 1900 to Mason and Pauline.  She graduated from Booker T.
